New Brake Pads
#16
These are probably the only two members that haven't wanted to upgrade their brakes! OEM brakes do everything they posted plus leaving an inch of brake dust on your wheels by just going around the block! HAWK HPS pads do the very same job with the exception of all that fugly dust! You do need to do the "Bed In Process" (search) when installing them for 30% better stopping ability...Gary

Actually bmars06, there are 3 different types of Hawk pads for our first gen G35s. Check out www.thetirerack.com, they show all 3 and how they are rated/compaired. If you decide on the Hawk HPS pads get them from the vendors on our Marketplace for the best price...Gary
Thanks for all the info about the OEM pads, guys.

I wouldn't go that far. What pads/rotors are the "best" all depends on what you are doing with the car.
Driving to/from work? OEM will be fine (except 03-04...those suck) Weekend Autocrossing or roadcourse racing? Aggressive street racing? Probably something different.
There's a lot of engineering behind certain brake pad/rotor combos that aren't generally widely understood. Pads tend to be designed for certain purposes and it's up to the user to select the right pad for what he/she is doing with the car.
Stoptech has some really good technical papers worth a read.

incorrect, I've had experience with oem, carbotech, stoptech, and your beloved Hawk HPS. I've bed them all in like an expensive hooker. Hawks will have less fade, BUT they have an underwhelming initial bite and they are horrible in wet weather when compared to the others. For what the OP has described what he is looking for, OEM is his best option.

I've driven SLICK in the worst rain on PCH I've ever seen coming home from Santa Barbara and my HAWK HPS pads never once felt like they weren't working 100%! Then I upgraded to DBA rotors and the pads lasted 50% longer, so worth the cost!
Rotors? You have many choices, check out our Marketplace under vendor brakes. I'll continue using my DBA rotors because they stop very well and double the life of my HAWK pads. You can go with slotted/drilled but it depends on which rotor you're buying, some have issues with cracking...my DBAs do not!

A lot of guys run the stoptech/centric blank rotors. I have them as well, and am on my second set.
Not a fan of drilled rotors myself. If you want the look, go for it, but don't expect any difference in performance over blank rotors. Pretty much just for looks on a street car

So does anyone know why the Hawk website has two different HPS FRONT pads list for my 06' coup? One is large than the other. Which would you use for non-Brembo calipers? Links to the two pads are below.

Drilled/Slotted DBAs with the gold lug area! Just installed a new set of HAWK HPS pads and had the DBA rotors turned, good for another 30K miles. I believe it was the 387s that I installed last...Gary
