Brushless car washes are good ... so i have heard. I have taken my other cars to them but really didnt notice any difference as compared to other 'brush' car washes.
so this is what i do now. I take my cars to normal car wash, and every now and then i will get them detailed or waxed. At the end of Winter I also get them buffed.
The end result, car looks great and maintains its shine and glow.

this is my first car that is black in color (been only a week), therefore i will pay heed to your advice and be more careful
and read up more on the detailing forum.
yada - These are the ACTUAL stock wheels - 17" 6 spoke (which might be the same as the 04?). The 18" 7 spoke wheels are the ones you get with the performance tire and wheel package. And the 19s come with the sport tuned suspension package. I actually wanted the 18s, but they didn't have one in stock in this color combo.
g35nm8r, Dj - thanks! I love this stone int! Been getting lots of compliments on it.
coolnesh - thanks for the tips. After 5 days, she's already in desparate need of a cleaning! I knew it was gonna be a chore to keep the black G clean, but I'm willing to do what it takes. I just want to make sure I do it right from the beginning to avoid scratches and swirls marks as much as possible. I've read pretty good stuff about Crystalguard - might have to give that a try.

G35tuning - that's what I've read before. We have a normal (brush) carwash just down the road, but I'll avoid that. I was just wondering if a brushless was a good place to start before doing any hand washing/waxing/etc. Nothing is touching the car but soap and water, so it makes sense that it would be ok, but this is my first black car so I too will heed expert advice
I guess my biggest concern is how you could hand wash a dirty G and not scratch it, no matter how clean/soft your microfiber towel is. You are still pushing dirt around...? (I should probably take these questions to the correct forum)

Yeah those wheels are the same as the '04. I got them because they are all-seasons on them and i made it through the winter with little or no problems at all. Now I feel like I can upgrade my wheels and keep my current ones as a winter setup.

#1 would be to buy either microfiber or sheeps skin wash mits..."2" of these...
#2 make sure you use 2 seperate water buckets...1 with soap and water and the other with hot water...Occasionally rinse your mit in the hot water to keep dirt from being in the soap...
#3 Do not wash in circular motions, up - down and back - fourth depending on which part of the car your washing..
#4 Use the 2nd wash mit to wash the wheels, splash guards, and other grime off the bottom end of the car...DO NOT use anywhere else on your ride...
#5 Before drying with a cloth...Take the nozzle off your hose, and or your finger and just let the water run freely on your ride...Cover the entire car, you'll notice right away how much water just beads off because of this...It takes off easily another 5 mins of drying with the towels which leads to less swirls...
#6 Use only clean microfiber towels, some people use other things but I've liked these best...Always keep those towels clean, most have specific cleaning instructions so follow those...
#7 If you really really want to take care of her, invest in some polish and wax...There is cheaper stuff that works such as EagleOne nano-wax, NXT, or you can opt for more expensive but highly regarded products such as Zaino, Griots Garage, Klasse...I used to use EagleOne and it worked well, however I just bought a kit from Zaino and can't wait...The reviews on this board about this product are amazing...
I may have missed a few things because I'm in a hurry and need to get back to work...But if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask...And if anyone wants to add a few things in there feel free...By the way if you buy a Zaino kit you'll get things such as clay bar and other products that in the long run will help you eliminate all minor dirt and debris from the cars paint surface which will make waxing and washing much smoother and less irritating to the paints surface...Gluck
