New G35c Owner - Black/Stone *pics*

I've been lurking on this forum for a few months now reading everything I could about this car so I'd know what I'm getting myself into. As of Friday, Feb 18th, I'm officially a G35 owner, and let me say, it's every bit the car you guys have been bragging about. I absolutely love it!

I'm located in the DC Metro area (Northern Virginia), so I'll need to hunt down that thread and join the locals. this has been a great resource for this car and I'm glad to finally be part of it

Here are a few pics of my 2005 G35 Coupe 5AT - Black Obsidian/Stone Int/Premium/Splash Guards

ballaremix - thanks! I liked the graphite interior, but when I saw the stone, I loved it! Unfortunately, they didn't have this color combo with the 18" wheels, but it's much easier to buy wheels than change the interior So I'll be looking for those soon.

pratik97 - I live and work in Ashburn. I moved here from Herndon about 2 years ago. Where did you get your tint job done? Happy with it? What's "legal" in VA?

Legal is 50% but I live in Maryland and thats 35%. I got it done at TNT Tint - Guy does great work. Has done it on mine and some friends including my last BMW too. He does his work at at BMW shop in Alexandria. He also made sure the matrix on the back windshield was done properly by spray painting it from the inside (had to do this a week after he laid down the tint) instead of some tinting over it and getting bubbles. I can PM you his number if you'd like.

Good choice in color!, but pretty difficult to keep swirl free..........just make sure when washing vehicle, use 2-3 mitts and 2 buckets of water...........also, make sure anything that touches the paint surface is clean - even the clay.

I thought those townhomes looked familiar...

I live in Ashburn as well. I think I have a friend who lives in your development, but I won't post the street name just for your privacy.

Congrats on your purchase. How was Rosenthal? I have been apprehensive about their dealers ever since the treatment I received at their Jag dealer.

pratik - yes please PM me his info. Thanks!

wil - I was seriously considering DG becasue of that, but I just couldn't resist. the G looks SO good in black. Thanks for the advice! Been reading up on the best ways/products needed to keep this car clean and as swirl-free as possible.

pahn - lol, I wondered if any locals would recognize the area. I basically live right next to the W&OD trail. There's also a new black 350Z in my neighborhood.
I mentioned in another forum (that had a bad Rosenthal experience) that it was easily the best car buying experience I've ever had! They bent over backwards for me! I had a VPP number (I work at MCI) and had external financing set up, so they weren't gonna make much off of me. I already had a salesperson I was working with (bought my wife's Altima, at Rosenthal last month and got her card) - but when I went up to test drive, she was off that day. Another salesperson happily offered to take me for a (rather long) test drive - even though he knew he wouldn't make a cent from me! Also, they spent over an hour trying to sell me on dealer options (paint and rust protection, alarms, etc) when we bought the Nissan, not a word about this for the Infiniti! They did ask if they could have a shot at financing, didn't have anything to lose, so I let them. And their Lease rates were better than what I got at leasecompare.com! Even with their financing, I was in and out of there in just over 2 hours (compared to 6+ hrs w/ the Nissan)! I don't know if I got lucky or what, but these guys were a class act all the way.

That color combo looks great...First time I've seen the stone interior on black, congrats looks very sharp...Now the hard part is keeping that thing clean...With black exterior you'll be trying to eliminate dust and swirl marks non-stop, and a light color leather interior is not going to be a cake walk either...Buy yourself some good washing products asap, before it gets to be too late...

LOL I hear ya... this car just screams to be driven hard... It's very tempting, but I'm being good. So far, I've only taken it above 4k rpm once and that was out of necessity (merging onto a busy highway). I'm only 160 miles so far... ugh, need the weather to clear up!

BTW, I've seen mixed feeling on brushless auto car washes. Is this a safe place to start? Seems like it would be better than hand washing to eliminate swirls, at least to get most of the dirt off... Any suggestions on how to keep this color looking nice? 4 days old and already getting dirty!@!

Rim

What kind of rims/wheels are they? They don't look like the stock wheels (7 spokes). They look nice, better than the 7 spokes ones IMO.

Enjoy your car!

Yeah. I was thinkin' the same thing. They look like '04 rims (which, I kinda like better anyways, and not just 'cuz I have an '04)

Congrats on the car, though!

Viral,
Our cars are black. Its a million dollar color... but it takes a million dollars to keep it clean.
Brushless car washes are good ... so i have heard. I have taken my other cars to them but really didnt notice any difference as compared to other 'brush' car washes.

so this is what i do now. I take my cars to normal car wash, and every now and then i will get them detailed or waxed. At the end of Winter I also get them buffed.

The end result, car looks great and maintains its shine and glow.
