This doesn't answer your question, but I wouldn't even bother. Everyone has smartphones nowadays that work better, don't require the purchase of an updated map DVD, and have touchscreens.
For me, my Nav is just nothing more than a real time fuel economy monitor and oil maintenance scheduler.
Maybe you can take it apart and just get it to stay in the up position.

eBay has several for sale and there are a few adds offering repair services. You might want to look there if you really want the original equipment working. Search in eBay Motors Auto and Truck parts. Search G35 Radio

It'll cost you about $700 if you want to fix the factory Nav. Ask me how I know...
I found the OEM Nav with stereo/cd for $350 on ebay . Had it installed at the stealership for another $350. You'd save that 350 if you install it yourself. I don't have the time nor the patience so I paid for it.
Another option is to replace your current stereo with a double-din DVD/LCD with Navigation. They cost around $300 or less now at Bestbuy. You'd have to factor in the installation cost unless you do it yourself. In the end, it would be about even. But if you buy a the DVD/LCD w/ Nav you'll have a more modern system.
