Get one with less than 100k miles or you will be dumping money into it right when you buy it. The shocks, bushings, window motors, belts, spark plugs, fluids, and filters start needing to be replaced around that mileage. Also inspect brake pads, rotors, tires and replace according to age. This car is a fun car to drive but can be very expensive if you just take it to a shop and pay their asking price.

I have a 2005 6mt sedan and love it. I wanted a coupe in college but as I got older and started a family I switched to a sedan. A sedan will be lighter and cheaper to purchase along with insure. I would go with a 2007 - 2008 G35S 6mt Sedan over a 2006 - 2007 Coupe.

love my 07 g35 6 sp

In your response to whether or not to buy a G Coupe...I would say go for it. I originally was looking for a turbo car when I bought this, But after a test drive I was sold. I bought the car with 67,000 miles and now has 86 k. I've had no problems with it other than I wonder why it uses so much oil? After doing a little reading it just seems that these cars tend to do that who knows why...

I'll give you some advice. Maintain full coverage insurance on it. There's another yahoo on this forum who didn't. Needless to say, he's paying over $300 a month on a car he can't drive, that, if he had full coverage, would've been paid for.

I was young and broke once. I've carried liability on financed cars before. Because I'm so damn lucky, I've never screwed myself over. But don't be that guy. It's better to pay the extra money just for the peace of mind knowing that when you decide to be a complete idiot, you'll be covered.

I wrecked my G35 backing into what I thought was an army tank, but ended up just being an old expedition. Repairs were $6,300. All I paid was $750.

So you want advice? Before dumping money on upgrades and looking cool. Shop around for full coverage insurance. the higher the deductible, the lower the monthly payment. That's why I keep my deductible at $750, so my monthly payment is quite a bit lower than a $500 or even $0 deductible.

Get a 6MT 2005 and above coupe. Sedans and automatics are for old people with kids. You don't want that. A 6MT with under 70k will be pricey for the year of car but in my opinion worth it compared to what else there is at that price range. Expect to pay 12-15k for a good condition stock 6mt with less than 70k. Good luck finding one because they are hard to find now n days.

1. My best friend has a Sedan and I have a Coupe. Trunk in the sedan is massive compared to my coupe. I can actually get a lot more usable space by removing the spare tire and the plastic trim holding the tools, surprisingly a lot of room under the carpet actually. Also folding down the rear seats on the coupe yields a large amount of storage space. Can't really go wrong with either the coupe or sedan, both mechanically the same, the interior is the same, just people can get into the back seat of the sedan much easier. I have two kids in car seats, and it isn't that bad. If you're traveling to visit friends that often, ease of jumping in your car might be something to consider.

2. I've only been pulled over when doing something stupid, like flooring it to get around a bro-truck that cut me off and not realizing a cop was behind me, luckily it was just a warning.

3. I've had mine 5 years, don't know what the current market is.

4. 192k on mine, got it with around 60. Parts and maintenance aren't any more costly than any other car I've owned. It's reliable as long as you maintain it properly. As with any car, there's plenty of "common" problems and the fixes are all over this forum. If you're not the DIY type, you will at least be an informed customer when it's time to take it to the mechanic.
