what if I hold down brake and rev to about 2300 then launch and the z owner is unaware he can do that do I have a chance lol

Oh, I thought you were talking equal drivers. That race would be too close to not consider drivers. It would be a drivers race. Neither would be noticeably faster. Whoever launches and shifts better wins.

my buddy just got a z and I told him lets take it to the track because I've been dyeing to go as well. Considering we both never dragged but I know a little more on how to do it then he does thank to this fourm hopefully ill take the W.

There is no significant performance difference if they are both stock. None!! It would come down to which car has been better maintained throughout the years. What car and driver published 13 years ago means nothing because those test were done with brand new cars. Factor in less restrictive exhaust you'll have more torque but a tune would make all the difference

The Z weighs 300 pounds less than your G, has a lighter and shorter driveshaft and your car is an auto. Depending on what package his Z has, he may also have lighter rims than a G coupe. That Z should smoke you, assuming it's a 6MT and he doesn't completely mess up manipulating it.... and it should be able to do it reliably time and time again. Probably by like 2 car lengths or more in a drag race to 90.

Depends on the year of the Z which he didn't specify(but we can assume it's an 03-06 since he said it's an auto). If it's an 03/04 350Z 5-AT, his 06 G35 Coupe Auto will weigh around 260-295 pounds more than it if the Z is stock (depending on which trim the Z is). If he's comparing against an '05/'06 350Z, then yes... it's closer to 200 pounds.
2006 G35 Coupe A/T = 3505
2003/4 350Z A/T = 3210 (Enthusiast) or 3239 (Touring)
The weight mostly matters in a drag race if it's from a standstill though. If it were a rolling 15 MPH to 100 MPH or so, it wouldn't play as much of a factor.
