Refinishing G35

I just bought a G35 coupe and I want to change the color. I want to get it painted with BMW's A52 space gray finish, but I'm not sure how I'd do this. Do I order the paint myself and take it to a body shop or will they order it for me? I can't seem to find anything on this

just take it to your body shop and they will take care of it. just tell them the exact color you want. like the paint code for it and they can order it.

Thanks! One less thing to worry about, eh?

I mean you are going to pay like $8K to do it right, so consider taking it to a place that does vinyl around you (maybe $2k at most).

Wow that's pretty pricey. Any reason for it being so much? Is it the paint itself that's costly or the labor?

To change the color of the car, they have to take off all your doors, hood, trunk, fenders, etc. Do a ton of extra masking, and put it all back together. Some may even lift yer engine out. It's very labor intensive.

You can just get it sprayed over, but then all your door jambs and under hood and everything will be a different color. Super janky looking

I was thinking about just getting a respray and having the door jambs done. Other than those places who's really gonna see the unpainted parts? I don't think many people will be sneaking peeks under my hood or around my trunk very often so I'd probably have those done at some later time when I have the money. Thoughts?

Considering the value of these cars now, unless you plan on keeping the car forever, $8k for a respray is a lot. I would just do what the visible body and door jambs.
