I did mention WRX STI and Lancer EVO. Should also have me toned S2000 but it slipped my mind.

G35s didn't either if you want to be technical about it. They basically cheated in doing their HP measurement. SAE standards for measuring horsepower changed since then to account for and prohibit this so some of the foreign auto makers who were disconnecting auxiliary components such as power steering pumps, AC idler pulleys, etc were actually ringing up about 7-10 more HP than they really made by today's standards. Not all auto manufacturers were doing this practice back then but Nissan was.

What this means is that if you engine dyno a new 2003 G35 6MT with the modern standard it probably makes 270 or so crank HP on average. Most stock 6MT G35s are putting down pretty low WHP numbers on the dyno, depending on what type of dyno is used.... usually mid 220s to low 240s.

That means the 3 series and c class would be making even less hp in 03? Side note wasn't expecting boosted examples

I'm not sure if BMW was doing this. Nissan and Honda supposedly were. I'm pretty sure most of the American brands (Ford and GM at least) were not... can't recall if Dodge was.

Manufacturers power claims should always be taken lightly anyways... some even underrate power on their own vehicles in their lineup if they share a motor with a sportier model so that it doesn't make the sportier one look like a slouch or deter sales.

The car matters, but really its how you drive it. Unless we're talking straight line of course... then its point and shoot.

Ive seen "slow" cars blow by me on a racetrack and have passed new corvettes. The best mod you can do to your car is learn how to drive it. Best part about that mod is that it follows you from car to car.

Heres a Civic with a 240hp engine swap (and a pro driver) keeping up with a Ford GT (novice driver) at the track:

I thought we measuring hp not track. People say in 03 g35 280hp is nothing at the time. I'm saying at the time manufactures weren't offering it for awhile

If you want to superfast 03 05G
Spend the 5 to 10 grand and put a turbo on it
You'll have 400 - 425 hp on the conservative setup and could push it more

From my experience with this car...No, they're not.

It really depends on your goals with the car.

If you're planning to make this car "fast", in my opinion, the only way to get there is forced induction.

If you plan on just making things look sleek and want different tone/sound, then bolt ons with Osiris may suffice. Just don't expect any big power numbers.

I'll jump in here.. 03 6mt coupe. I can't compare what it felt like stock, because I bought it (badly) modded and running poorly.

After a thorough tune up of valve cover gaskets and tube re seal, spark plugs, cleaned plenum and tb and maf, new cam angle sensors and new 02 sensors, in addition to rebuilding the leaking fuel injectors..
it runs very well now.

Mods on the car when I got it..Ebay "GodSnow" exhaust, badly welded mid-Y pipe, longtube stainless headers with no cats obviously(SC no emmissions check), K&N cold air intake (2 piece, into the front bumper..no hot air). An aftermarket clutch and lightweight flywheel was also installed but I don't know the maker. As well as D2 coilovers. I was almost afraid to wring out the RPMs because I know the car HAD to be lean with all the airflow mods and no tuning to match it.

Now.. the car still has the longtube headers, new mid Y pipe, new custom designed exhuast, MD 5/16" plenum spacer, Bilstein/Eibach in 350z spec. And the most important addition.. UpRev Osiris to make it all work together. I'm still on the base tune at the moment with just a few tweaks. Not even a full custom tune and the car feels like a monster. Since I have an 03 I need to pick up a wideband o2 for data logging air/fuel and then I can finally get a full e-tune. Very impressed with Seymore4's tune so far. I rarely romp hard on the car but when I do launch it, I'm breaking traction all the way into 3rd gear. This is on 275/35/18s on 18x10s..no stretch here.

I know for a fact that the car is a lot stronger than stock, and considering I have just about every purposeful bolt on other than forced induction I'd say that its definitely worth it. I was hoping to get to the dyno this week for a power check but I've had a hard week and don't think I will be making the trip.

This is all relative to your situation though. I am a fabricator/tuner/mechanic with over 20+ years experience and this is my personal car so YMMV...
