Do you guys think a G35 will be ok in college. I'm planning on going to UT Austin and I don't know how people are there. I hope there aren't many haters there. I'm getting doubts because of this. What do you guys thing?

Longhorns huh? Now I have to officially hate you....I went to Univ. of Oklahoma.....

Anyways, you should be ok if you just get a apt. off-campus with good parking.

I would highly recommend AGAINST it. I've never known anyone in college who had a nice car....for long.

Heh, my school has all nice cars. Few corvettes, hummers, tons of IS300s, bmws (m3s/300s), a guy even have a $80K Porsche! My g35 can beat about 90% of the cars in the lot though =).

Only thing that is gonna Blow for you in college is the dings in your door. My car got at least 10 dings in it from idiots that cant get into their cars without hitting everything around them.

Re: G35 and college?

yea well I got a friend bringing a '03 M3 and wnother friend bringing a 350z. Another friend is thinking about getting the new RX-8. So I'm not worried about my car being the best cause it won't be. lol. But I'm just confused about whether it's worth it or not. My car is coming in probably late this week or early next week. SO I gotta decide by then. Thanks for all the input though.

Re: G35 and college?

I know it's hard, but I would just wait until you've graduated, unless you move into someplace with indoor parking. Leaving it out in the weather (even Texas weather) for 4 years is not good for it, and a large state college filled with large, bored, and drunk people is not a place where you want to have a car that draws attention to itself. I had a fairly nice car while I was at UMass, and the top was slashed up twice. It was also towed away twice because the locals are incredibly aggressive about that since it's a huge money-maker. They didn't even call the tow trucks, the tow trucks patrolled looking for students' cars and lied about being called. And I think they damaged the transmission towing it once.

In short, now is not the time to have the hot car. Save your money and wait until you can take care of it, or at least until you move off-campus.

I'll think about it. It's really a hard decision for me. My back up car is a Acura RSX-S. lol.

Re: G35 and college?

There is no way I would take a beautiful, brand new car like the G with me to college...unless you don't mind a little "character" (expect lots of dings and scratches). I would definatley go with a nice used car and save up the money for a truly nice ride after you graduate.
