Lower airbox/Resonator necessary?
Today I noticed I was missing the lower airbox/resonator after cleaning out my air filter. When looking down the power duct & airbox, I just see a hole leading to where that lower box should be.
Am I losing performance by not having one? If so, should I buy one or plug up the hole somehow? Or should I be OK as is?

you will only feel the loss of performance in reverse, all the forward gears don't suffer from power loss you sustain from missing that incredibly vital piece of air intake system.
I did a search earlier and I'm getting conflicting info from a lot of really old threads. From people saying they lose a tiny bit of tq and hp at low RPMs kinda like the effects of a CAI, and others saying there is no loss. Just wondering if anyone has any new findings.
Was also thinking of removing my Power Duct cover just for the sound, knowing that I MIGHT lose some power as well (another controversial topic
)
All your gaining is sound. Plug that hole. Less sound.. Removing your power duct may also make your 'sound' louder.. But who really gives a ****...! Hp/tq don't really matter here. Especially if your as stock as can be.
I miss those days when people would rip a new one to OP for asking these kind of questions for like 5 pages straight before a reasonable answer is contributed.
I will guarantee you 100% that there are no changes what so ever to torque or hp with those two plastic pieces on or off.
Slight change to sound but you will never notice it, like never ever ever.

Cover the hole up so nothing gets in there such as bugs or rodents, but there will be no performance impact with it missing.

I remember seeing an old post where someone ran a flexible hose up to that hole on the bottom and put the opening in the bumper, kind of like a DIY ram air. It was a novel idea, no clue if it actually helped anything.
