Why does the G35 community seem so cheap?
If you buy any part that does not say "Infiniti or Nissan" for your Infiniti G35, you are now creating a custom vehicle that was once an Infiniti G35 at your own risk...
IMO some reputable aftermarket names can produce more power, look better, and help certain flaws on the current OEM setup, but again your vehicle is no longer an Infiniti G35 if you visit autozone instead of the Infiniti dealership for replacement parts.
p.s. I don't work for Infiniti, but I certainly wouldn't visit the cheap parts chain stores for oem replacement parts either...edit(spark plugs and air filters, are my only exceptions here)

Not even Nissan uses all "Nissan" parts (I.e. G37 sport brakes are akebono), so your analogy is already trash from the factory.
Your mechanic may have used a different brand of brake pads than Nissan did over a decade ago. Sorry to hear you don't drive a G anymore, lol
what turbo are you using? holset or the actual bw bv50 from the 997?
I like the idea and how they work, but I heard they get really really hot with gas setups. And my g35 is already like an outdoor sauna. You just approach my G and you can feel the heat on you. (I should sand my hood and cook eggs on it).
Other than that, the boost at low RPMs with the fins is pretty genius. And they're cheap turbos that can push some serious boost.

The shocks? Tokiko
The brakes? Brembo / Akebono
The seat belts? Takada
The wheels? 2 different brands.
The sensors and spark plugs? Denso, Hitachi and I believe IPT.
The oxygen sensors? NGK/NTK.
The radiator and exhaust? Calsonic.
The seats? Recaro (depending on model, IDR other mfg).
The transmission I believe is made by Asin too.
The wheel bearings? Nachi.
So please let me know where 'non Nissan/Infiniti' parts make the car non Nissan/Infiniti again.
Sorry but our cars are made with parts from 10+mfg besides Nissan.

Well actually I was thinking of the IPL edition but I suppose it doesn't exist for the first gens like ours.
Do the IPLs really come with recaro seats tho? Might be a cool upgrade for a first gen.
But I don't know if it was an after market upgraded display model.
Edit: So I went looking and don't find the IPL with Recaro seats, although I do see a 370z model with recaro seats. So it is possible that they put some 370z seats into the IPL Q60 at the auto show (maybe intentionally, or maybe some spilled their drink in the car and they needed to change the seats LOL).
Either way I retract recaro as a seat mfg for infiniti's unless I can find a model that comes with them.

Well at the auto show last year I sat in a drop top IPL Q60s and it had recaro seats.

I personally don't care what goes into it. I'm not building the car for performance.
I heard AZ (probably Duralast) Camshaft Sensors don't last long in Infiniti's/Nissans. They work fine in Toyota, Chevy, and Honda... But Nissan's break them or something?
I have a Cam sensor I bought from AZ for 80$. Nissan quoted me $240 for one, so I went with the part that was 1/3 the price.
A few weeks ago, my car started acting strange again after flooring it a couple times.
I got p1104 and 300 or something. Basically the same codes I had previously got with the Cam sensor.
A couple users told me my timing might be advanced or retarded, like maybe I skipped a tooth on the cam sprocket? So I was like "drive it until it breaks!" Because the price to drop it and replace the chains, tensioners/guides, and cam gear would be greater than a VQ35 with only 50,000 miles on it (and my engine has over 150,000 miles).
One day I reset the SES light using the accelerator timed sequence. Drove it home, it still ran like crap.
The next day it started up fine, and has worked fine since.

I've mashed the crap out of that throttle several times to see if it would come back... seems to be working fine. Might have been some gunk stuck in my VVT solenoid.
So yeah, 80$ AZ sensor is still working.
Why should I care? I'm not showing the car. I'm not one to brag about my car. If or when I go to sell it, I doubt they're going to pull out the magnifying glass and look at every sensor. If I go to a race meet, and open my hood - NO ONE is going to pull my cam sensor and go "NOPE! NOT AUTHENTIC!!!! Get outta here phony!!!"

Who cares lol.
Edit: We are talking about 10 year old cars right? This isn't even the g37 chat.

That's still an impressive list you built.

Either way the chinese replacement parts tend to be ****. I replaced a coil and in a year it was having a light miss-fire again at specific RPM's.
I replaced it now with a used OEM coil (50k miles) and have no issues.
It sucks that its hard (and expensive) to buy new OEM parts for things just because they can mark it up so much.
You can order the original coils from japan from the mfg (I think it is Denso, but idr off the top of my head) but honestly I have taken to looking on ebay for lightly used parts from crashed cars and using those instead.
My crank sensor went bad and I bought a used OEM one from a crashed G35 with 40k miles for $10, works perfectly fine and is way cheaper than $175 for a "new OEM" one from nissan.
Lol yep the 1st gen G's.

I bought a couple of used ignitors for my 4efte swapped Tercel about 10 years ago. Turns out my original ignitor was fine, it just had to be mounted to metal (no paint) because it grounds through the bracket.
Took 1 evening to get the engine in the car. 1 day to wire the engine to the chassis.
2 months to trouble shoot an ignitor grounding issue.
That's a pretty good idea. I wonder if the yards around me have those parts.

hahahaha I know the feels, one time my turbo civic had a random light shutting off issue and battery problem for about 3 months. Turned out the ground from the engine to the chassis wasn't making good contact on the engine side due to the stuff they used to tank the block in to clean it....
Sometimes it'd start fine.
Other times I'd push the clutch in, turn the key, and it would just click or make 1 tap sound.
I thought it was the starter getting stuck... but then my pizza delivery guy had a turbo'd CRX, and I was like "hey I have one of those... kinda".
The conversation turned to my starting issue (in my favor), and he's like "Naw that's a bad engine ground, trust me" (as I can hear his idle surging from a vacuum leak, right behind us).
He's like "here, I'll fix it", grabs sand paper and a ratchet out of the back of his car. Sands the contacts on my ground and bolts it back down on top of my block and engine bay.
I NEVER had an issue with it starting after that. I was like this pizza delivery dude just fixed my car... 20$ tip!
