I don't care if I'm "cheap" for running reps or not having the same parts as everyone else. If you spend money on eBay parts and they're ****, lesson learned. At the end of the day it's your car in your driveway, so do what you want.
FYI

The " g scene" as you put it, is 95% eBay builds just like yours. So you should fit right in!

Don't get replica wheels. The casting techniques are often bad. I've seen some scary stuff that wrecked otherwise great cars. It only takes a light pothole for this to happen.

That really does depend on the brand, I have heard of people shattering $3000 TE-37's in potholes too.

There is the durability issue, but the real issue is how heavy the knockoffs are. Why do people only care about looks on a performance car? I know our cars aren't really fast, but they're not Priuses either.

Yes replica's are often heavy, but if you are putting 19's or 20's then they will be heavier than the stock wheels 99% of the time so it really doesn't matter.

Difference of 4-5 lbs per corner vs 10-12 lbs per corner is significant.

Also, if you're REALLY doing it right, you're researching the new sheep's weight before purchase, prioritizing that over looks, & buying something lighter than (or close to) stock weight.

The other thing to consider is that, while heavier, wider wheels can offer a wider contact patch which can improve handling (depending on whether you want a drag, drift or autoX build). Just something else to consider.

Clearly yes. But for example if I buy XXR 521's the weight isn't relaly much different from stock. I can get some 18x9 or 18x9.5 and it will weigh 1lb more than the stock 18's and XXR's are so cheap.

Now I am not buying any XXR's but its just a example.

Also, consider tire weight when bumping up to 19's and 20's. Hell my Volks RE30's are lighter than TE37's, but the tire weight basically makes them weigh a little less than stock.

Typical G35Driver comment, full of hate. I don't think you fully understand why I can't afford Mesiters and Art pipes, just saying. I know my car doesn't look as good as others, nor does it sound as good, nor does it make as much power, but for now it will suffice. I simply cannot justify shelling out thousands and thousands on my car when I have to put myself through school. Also, aren't you on Cosmis wheels??

Yep the fatter tires are heavier but Volks are insane expensive just for a couple lb difference in a larger size.

We do understand because we've already been where you are, obviously.

What I take issue with is kids buying cars that they can't afford to properly maintain or upgrade and turning them into trash.

Instead of waiting until they finish school & get a real job to afford it, these kids (not attacking you personally) just want a fast car NAO!, so they trash them with trash mods that stretch their budget despite being cheap, then expect sympathy when they complain about being broke...

I get what you're saying, but by putting these "trash mods" on, I have zero intention of going fast. I know that my G is slow, that's why I'm doing cosmetic mods (and sound mods). I don't cheap out on parts that actually matter tho, and I religiously maintain my car. I'm just having fun doing stuff to my car, whether it be painting headlights, installing test pipes, or just lowering her.

Fair enough. That's why I was careful not to accuse you of anything. Either way, I'm sure you know the type I'm talking about, and they're the reason younger enthusiasts get a bad rap.
