Major fuel leak

Last week, I installed my MD TDX2 exhaust along with the ART Pipes. And my god .. The stock exhaust got rusted up like no other. This car definitely spent time in the north from its first owner. The removal took a long time because of the rust but now the new MD exhaust sounds great.

After installing my exhaust, I received a P0455 code (EVAP emission system leak detected). So at first, I assumed it was because the gas cap was loose so I retightned it and cleared the code.

Then all of a sudden on the road, my car stopped. It was out of gas! The fuel gauge still showed half full.

I then got a car to the gas station after my friend brought me over 2 gallons. Once I got to the gas station, the car filled up to 18.4 gallons. It was right there and then that lots of fuel started to leak on the drivers side just in front of the rear wheel. What could the reasoning be?! I got the car towed a few minutes ago to a shop nearby to get it checked out. No way I was gonna drive it with leaking fuel.

Just got off the phone with my mechanic. He said the leak is coming from the fuel tank. He said he will verify it and call me back with a quote tomorrow.

How much is a new fuel tank for a 2007 coupe?

the fuel tank is in the back of the car so if its leaking near the front wheels i dont think its the tank. prob a fuel line got damaged.

He said just in front of the rear wheel... not front wheel.

It could be the filler neck too. Maybe the part where it attaches to the tank is leaking around the gasket. Could also be leaking from around the fuel pump assembly. There is usually a gasket there too and they tend to shrivel up with age and can leak. Did you top the car off or just fill it until the pump stopped?
