P0462 Fuel Level Sensor A, Circuit Low Input
Hey everybody,
Please hear me out as I know this topic has circulated around the forum for many years. I received a CEL a month ago and the code read the following (2007 G35 Coupe):
P0462
Fuel Level Sensor A
Circuit Low Input
Issue: My fuel gauge would always read between full to a little under 3/4 full. The gauge would never go to the half mark or below that. So this whole time, I reset my odometer and refill around 250 miles, which is quite annoying.
What I've done: I've replaced the sending unit on the drivers side and the whole fuel pump assembly on the passengers side.
Outcome: After resetting my ECU, erasing the code, and replacing both units, the CEL came back with the same P0462 code. I've read on the forums that it could possibly be the fuel gauge itself, but after running the diagnostic mode on the cluster, all the needles lined up perfectly, so I can eliminate any cluster issues.
My question: Could I possibly have a electrical problem such as a short somewhere because the code I pulled up does mention "Circuit Low Input". Also, it says "Fuel Level Sensor A". Which one and/or side is Sensor A?
Thanks in advance guys.

DTC P0462, P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR
PFP:25060
Component Description
NBS000U9
The fuel level sensor is mounted in the fuel level sensor unit. The
sensor detects a fuel level in the fuel tank and transmits a signal to
the combination meter. The combination meter sends the fuel level
sensor signal to the ECM through CAN communication line.
It consists of two parts, one is mechanical float and the other is vari-
able resistor. Fuel level sensor output voltage changes depending on
the movement of the fuel mechanical float.

Took my car to the mechanic shop to do some routine maintenance as I'm still dealing with this fuel issue. I asked him to look into the issue and he said that it is the fuel level sensor, but I told him no because I changed them twice already with no luck. He recommended me to drop the car off at the Infiniti dealership. While I know it'll cost an arm and a leg, does anybody seem to find out what the fix for this issue is??

Had this issue on my 06 sedan with the P0462 code. Got absolutely no help on it here despite the fact this is a widely talked about issue on here from my Google research.
I changed both sending units and that did not fix the issue. Total waste of money. The light kept coming back on. It only comes on when I fill the tank up. If I get below 3/4 full the check engine light goes out. So I drove a few months with the check engine light going on and off till the point the code stopped popping back up and now the light no longer comes on. However, my fuel gauge still will not show anything below half a tank.
The REAL FIX for this issue is the fuel gauge on the speedometer. Doing that stupid speedometer test from the service manual doesnt prove anything but the fact that the needle moves. What it doesnt prove is the fact that the controller on the circuit board cant send a signal below half a tank of gas. To fix this you need to go on eBay and send your speedometer out for repair to have them fix the inaacurate fuel gauge. Problem solved and no more check engine light.

Is it still working bro? I see this is from last year just checking before I spend money lol same issue

guys I had the same issue for the past 2 years, I have change both sending unit and fuel pump like 3 times after infiniti recommended me to do so, I have bought a second cluster at the scrap and i was having the same problem so I went to a local garage they check wires and everyting seems fine until the head mechanic said we will change the AMPLIFIER CONTROL AIR CONDITIONER 277601NM6D and it resolved my problem. No problem after that so check that first. I bougt that part for $15 at the scrap and I was told its almost $200-300 new.

Let's hope that's is the problem and it work for you, let me know if its all good cuz in the mechanics manual it said to check that after everything else checked. so when I go to the scrap and there's a G that's the first thing I want to grab lol
