Questions about going FI
Questions about going FI
Evening everyone, so I've only owned my G for several months. I love my car, and don't see me parting ways unless absolutely necessary.
I picked up a second job over summer for the point of going FI. My car has 177K miles on it. No way I would put the strain on the engine at this age.
So, I'm at the point of buying a new engine, should I get a built engine or a used engine around 70K miles.
I'll track the car everyone once in awhile but it'll be mostly DD. Maybe doing some enthusiastic driving on my way home commute. So I guess I'm basically asking should I throw the extra cash at a built engine and turbo that or buy a used engine with low miles and turbo that?

Stock VQ's don't like turbos due to the added torque, you may or may not get lucky. Best to do it right from the beginning and go with a built block. It will be expensive but will also be considerably more reliable if built correctly.
