Rebuilding a VQ motor is not less than buying a used one.. not even close, unless you do the work yourself. A rebuild costs quite a bit due to the labor and machine work involved. VQ's are such a common motor that they are all over the used market and can be purchased relatively cheap which is why almost everyone opts to buy a used drop-in replacement rather than rebuild their current motor.

Rebuilds often turn into expensive projects anyways since you end up replacing a bunch of other stuff while you're in there since the motor is already apart.

I wouldn't buy a rebuilt engine from eBay if I needed one, not even if they paid me! Just keep frequently checking your oil and top if off when it get below the full line! There's nothing wrong with using 10W/30 synthetic, WallMart or Cosco sells Mobil 1 at a reasonable price. If and when you need a new motor check our Marketplace under vendor engines, there's a company in Texas that has a good following for quality and dependability!

I hope you read that entire thread right to the last post? Looks like your are going to take a leap of faith ordering from them. That vendor has poor customer service as per several posts. Taking people's money and not sending them the parts while your car is opened and waiting is a nightmare. They also have not bumped or posted in over 2 years, Forum admin should either try contacting the vendor or at least take down that thread.

On another note, don't use synthetic oil. I've been asking G35/350Z owners who've had this problem almost all were running synthetic. Conventional oil may actually help your reduce your oil consumption. Just change it every 3-4 months or every 3-4K miles.

I emailed them. If they don't respond I'll find another route for the kit unless anybody knows off hand

If I'm missing anything or am wrong about anything please chime in but don't start with the baby bs please. I don't have the patience for that and that type of stuff has kept me from this site.
Methinks you need to take a chill pill. No one started a dispute I was merely asking for his opinion and clearly stated that, far from "baby bs" as you call it. Also this is a public forum where people are free to say what they want within specific guidelines so trying to dictate who says what is a losing proposition. If you can't handle a little off topic banter w/o getting your panties in a wad I might suggest you don't open any new threads but just use the search function (which is a forum rule) or Google to find the answers to the questions you have. That way you will have the control you so clearly need.

Me thinks this is what u do at 730 in the morning. Anyways I just changed my oil and added lucas. Both valve covers are leaking and I don't see any other leaks. I'll fix that and see what happens.

Seafoam will do nothing at all to help with oil leaks. If anything it could, make it worse by cleaning up deposits in the motor that were making things tighter and less leak prone (although in reality Seafoam doesn't clean up too much in the way of extremely hardened deposits).

So you don't really know if you have the OC issue since both valve covers are leaking! Why the concern until long after you've fixed the most obvious problem?

I started doing some maintenance on my car in the spring and I somehow ended up gutting and cleaning the hell out of my interior. While I was running wires for my system I ended up washing the carpet and every inch of the inside. By the time I was done , doing it in my spare time I needed a break from the car. The other day I checked my oil and it was very low so now I wanna finish what my plans where and tackle the job.

Anyways I'm looking at catch can since I'm doing the valve covers, and oh why not spend some more and do the plenum spacers.....

Soo... what size tubing is the pvc lines ,is it 3/8? And I'm seeing diffrent methods of doing the catch can. I see pvc delete , I'm reading people that have the catch can going from the pvc to can to somewhere in the passenger side and 1 method goes from pvc to can to somewhere else at the driver side. What's the best way?

Figured it out. The problem area is from the plenum to pcv valve. Thanks again for the info
