Question Top Speed on 6MT coupe???

Hey everyone, Im trying to make up my mind between the G35 and 350z, and im really leaning towards the G35 because of its looks and added luxury. I know the performance numbers between them are pretty similar, but I was wondering what the 6spd coupe tops out at. Same as the Z or what?

Thanks for the help!!!!

Close enough to the same, I believe they are both governed at 156. But honestly, if THIS is what is going to change your mind for one car over another, you need to be looking at other models....

Whats the difference, they are very close and you will never know the difference if it's one or two mph off because, really how many times will you drive it that fast and for how long will you be able to hold that speed?

they'er almost the same car, just the z tube is missing in the g35. Other than that it's identical in parts, but not style. Are you going for sport, or luxury/sport?

My G went to 155

I'd go for the G35 purely for the fact that it has back seats. That alone can make a car impractical for some people. I also prefer the luxury that the G35 offers over the 350Z as well, and I prefer the styling overall as well.

As much as I love my G35, the Z will always be considered more of a "sports car". If performance number bragging rights are your overriding purchase factor, then get the Z.

Otherwise, if you're deciding between the 2 cars, the seats are really the most important question - 2 seats? or 4? If you've never owned a 2-seater before, you're in for a suprise if this will be your only vehicle.

Bragging rights??They can only come with driving skill...I have yet to lose to a 350z and have left many scratching there head making excuses.

As for top speed the cars are governed at 155....beware not all 350Z have been able to reach this speed....A recent C&D tested one at 148....The was an owner on fresh alloy lamenting that his car could only do 140...U never know exactly what kind of tune your car has until U test it...(i.e. my rev limiter doesn't kick in until 6900 rpms.

* 6mts that have a rev limit of 6600 rpms would top out at 181mph...if the had enough power....the govner limits the car to 5500 rmps in 6th..156mph..if the car makes a max hp at 6200....the car should be good for atleast 165...if you had enough road...

Thanks for helping, I know I could have searched for it online, but I wanted an answer from a reliable source, I searched for it on this site but found nothing. Anyways, the G35 will be my everyday car, so the 4 seats are a plus. I know the 3 cars are pretty similar, but id rather go with the infiniti, cuz i like the looks much better than the Z.

Thanks for the info, and your opinions.

I CAN tell you that when you drive the G35C hard, it is way sportier than its smooth apperance (inside and out) suggests. The car is very raw and tail-happy, there is a lot of power, and the handling is pretty well-balanced. If you need the back seats and trunk space, then go for the G. If not, go for the Z.

Shorter wheelbase has left the 350z with worse slalom times then the G35...Meaning our longer wheelbase has led to better performance times in handeling...Atleast I'm pretty sure..lol

I think we will probably find that using the same tires, the Z would likely perform slightly better. The Pilot Sports are a better performing tire than the RE040s. The only place I think the G might better the Z is on the skidpad as the longer wheelbase would make it easier to keep the tail inline. Shorter wheelbases typically are better in slaloms as the front end can run a tighter line in relation to the rear. This tends to allow a slightly straighter line which means you can carry a higher speed.
