Can you tell if my control arm bushing is bad?

I have some squeaking sometimes when I turn the steering wheel and when I go over speed bumps. Sometimes it's there sometimes it isn't.

Today I went in for an alignment and the dude told me my lower control arms were bad and needed to be replaced. I went home and checked them myself. They honestly look fine. There's zero play in any of the bushings. Upper and lower. No movement, no noise. The only thing I found was that might need replacing was the passenger side bushing below. What do you guys think?

Your ball joint is bad it needs to be pressed out and replaced. Look at where the arm connects to the frame and see if the bushing is damaged. Try using a pry bar and check for play also.

Your lower shock mount bushing is clearly broken - here is another view. The crack means the rubber failed. Get some oem bushings if you want a quiet ride, or poly bushings if you want a handling upgrade.

Thanks guys. This alignment dude was quoting me over 600 bucks to change out both arms completely.

Yeah it's a bitch to press out though. I had a shop do it and they complained about those LCA's.

That ball joint is on the steering knuckle and not on the LCA. I did both of mine with a ball joint press from Advanced Auto. It's a giant C calmp with some cups that you fit over the joint and just use a wrench/impact to get loose.

You need a 1/2 ratchet
Impact if available
Snap ring/needle noise pliers
