This is my second g35. I'm seeing white smoke from the exaust pipes when I accelerate. I was told its oil leaking on the rings and I was told that it could be water. what do you think it could be?

Most likely it's oil getting past the rings.

do you know if its a costly fixed? cause I was told by an "expert on foreign cars" to get rid of the car

This a common issue with the early vq engines. The fix involves an engine rebuild to replace the crappy rings that infiniti installed. My car burns oil like most early vq's and I just check it every time I get gas. Buying oil is lot cheaper than replacing the engine.

WHITE SMOKE! White smoke has nothing to do with oil or our less than quality oil rings...Fact! If you're having white smoke coming from your exhaust that's an indication you have a blown head gasket! After your G is warmed up is there any water dripping from your exhaust tips? Check your radiator after your car has cooled down for oil in your radiator fluid! Either take your G to Nissan or a qualified mechanic to have them check it out, blown head gaskets are nothing to put off fixing!

I've had my G for almost four years (I've only replaced an radiator and a starter in that time span) and I've seen white smoke on a few occasions and my head gaskets are just fine. The white smoke even smells of burning oil.

While I agree that the most common issue is a blown head gasket with those symptoms I just wouldn't agree from my experience that I've had with my own vehicle.

Are you sure you know the difference between blue and white smoke? With a blown head gasket you'll have oil in your radiator fluid or fluid in your oil plus water that continues to drip from your exhaust even after your G has warmed up. These are all warning's that need to be checked out!

Yup I'm aware of the differences and I do my own maintenance so I would have seen any changes in the oil. Just the same ole oil burning lol
