Could be the head gasket has already gone out again, seriously low compression like you have doesn't have to be just rings or valves.

Same sort of issues p0300

Sorry to revive to thread guys-long time reader first time poster

04 g35 coupe full hks exhaust test pipes
Kinteix v2 intake mani
Ztube
Kn filter
Coilovers
Energy bushings all around

Omw to work the other day ( past few days odd starts-- almost like it stumbles instead of wakes right up) and got gas- went to pull off and odd start again then went to do a short pull off in 1st ( 0-25) and holy cow it sounded like my intercooler piping blew off ( if i had a tubro) litterally spunds like spark cut.
Got to work/ limped back home with no power at all in every gear- neutral/idle was jumpy around 500-650 and it was sputtering

Got p1273

Changed to one step colder ngk plugs-
Pass side rear and mid ( im not sure the cyl #s) were blackish-little oil not much at all- however the mid was like burnt black not oily wet.
Also changed out 2 upstream 02 sensors.

Fired her up today and the idle/ sputter issue was gone-did the air volume relearn and such
However it sounded like one cylidner is dead. Revved fine until i did the relearn... Then it wouldnt let me rev past 2500 and the ses would blink like an elec short not like an oem blink....also my,slip and vdc lifhts were lit for the first time ever. And a p0300

Help guys
Im going to look into the crank pos sensors as one ( bad side) has a little oily residue on the connector

Also may look into valve covers but they were done at 150 ( im at 175xxx)

Thanks guys any help is appreciated

Just waxxed ( day before p1273 nightmare lol)

I'd check out that Kinetix manifold, make sure nothing has loosened and is causing a big vacuum leak. PCV system, etc.

When i swapped plugs i pulled intake mani-
Some expected oil residue in plenum-not horrible.
Cleaned pcv and all hoses, checked all fittings
Re-torqued to spec and whatnot.
Still same issue-
It does sound like its making a sucking/compression sound-

Ive been researching and am leaning towards:
-bad coil pack
-bad injector
-cam / crank sensors
-fuel system
-bad ipdm?

Ill test my coils when i get off work and try cleaning the sensors connectors.
And possibly a compression test/ fuel pressure test if diy fixes dont solve the issue

What diagnostic trouble code is it throwing?

Did the problem happen before or after you got fuel?

Initially was p1273 upstream o2 b1
Then p0300

And after i fueled up- had odd starts for a few days prior...
On the other hand ive never been able to fill my tank past 14 gallons in the 3 yrs ive owned it- and we have 19 gal tanks...my gas gauge reads 3/4 at 14 gallons but the pump clicks like its full so maybe old gas was in tank? But wouldnt that cause issues at all cylinders?

The tank not filling entirely is an EVAP problem, there was a letter sent to Infiniti customers two years ago about getting it fixed. Contact your local Infiniti to see if the work is covered under an extended warranty.

I would start by cleaning the MAF and inspecting AGAIN for vacuum leaks in the entire intake tract, all 3 PCV hoses as well as the PCV valve, remove it and shake it to see if it rattles. It really does sound like a vacuum leak though.

Ill have to go through and re-check everything-
Any tips on finding vac leaks besides propane?
Pcv valve in working order as i cleaned and tested the piece while mani was off
Maf is clean-minimal if any dust ill clean it anyhow
And ill look up that evap **** too-

Ive also developed this "tick"-deff not rod knock but matches with rpms and gets little quieter when warm--leaning towards injector or fuel dampner on this one

More updates tomorrow and the next day

Appreciate the help for sure though

If it's a "thumping" sound that you can hear from the passenger seat glove box area it's probably that fuel damper on the right side rail that's semi-notorious for failing.

I usually just spray TB cleaner around mating surfaces to find vacuum leaks.

Ill give the tb cleaner a go this morning--

I know the dampner you speak of and ill prob go that route before coil packs as theyre cheaper lol

Could the dampner cause a ticking noise? Closer to an injector sound and increases evebly with revs- quiets a bit when warm...or could dampner be effecting the injectors?

I was aprehensive about the fuel system as only one cylinder showed obvious signs of misfire/no fuel ( i.e a completely black dry burnt looking spark plug)

May be wrong(technically) but this is how i can explain it
cyl#
5. 6
3. 4
1. 2

Vac leak check and nothing at all.
Coil packs...first pulled "black/burnt" cyl#3 and it bogged

Pulled #1...no change. Bingo on that guy!!....butttt
Wtf...whys my #3 plug blacker than night!

Also could this bad pack be the culprit of the"ticking" and "thumping/sucking" rather than the fuel dampner?

You've got a couple bad coil packs it looks like. Pretty significant carbon scoring on two of the ceramic, look up inside the coil pack at the contact spring and see if there's any corrosion. I'm betting two of them are cooked inside that rubber shaft.

You also have one that's been failing internally, that orange scorching where the ceramic meets the bolt face is typically a cracked or severely worn plug. Did you torque the plugs properly to 20 ft/lbs (15ft/lbs if using anti-sieze)?

Yes the fuel damper thumping can cause fuel delivery problems, basically the fuel pressure gets a sort of "vibration" in the flow and if the injectors are open when the flow is bouncing back then that cycle will receive slightly less fuel than the next.

It's really easy to diagnose though, put a mechanics stethoscope on both dampers, if one sounds like twice as loud as the other it needs to be replaced and it's usually the primary damper on the right side that goes bad.

How old are those plugs? They look cooked.

Personally I would do a compression test while those plugs were out. Pull the fuel pump relay first so you're not spraying gas.

Prev owner/shop most likely lied, and/or resued old parts on refresh at 150xxx...

But i always torque to spec and use better parts ratherthan cheapos and if i got 6, but 1 is bad, all 6 are getting, replaced lol

Will be stethoscoping dampners before work tonight-

NGK coils are 350$- any experience with duralast(100$ cheaper)?

And money is not an opti9n in my house lol-
I will most likely check/replace fuel dampner & coils.

If when i do this i realize its not running 100% ill pull the mani and run the comp test and get ready for an engine build, lol

Thanks guys ill keep updating
