Hey guys I've searched and I'm kinda having a hard time understanding as I have never messed with headlights other than changing bulbs. So basically the top light on my car doesn't work, which I believe is the low beam which is a D2R. Well long story short the previous owner told me the only thing he had for the low beam was the D2R bulb, which I confirmed. But they do not work. He said I need everything BUT the bulb. So what exactly do I need in laymans terms. If there's a thread you can point me to I'd appreciate that. But I'm just looking for a quick answer so I can legally drive my car.

I believe the car has HID low beam and Halogen high beam. If you look directly on the clear lens you will see the bulb type!

If it doesnt work, swap bulbs side to side. If that doesn't work, swap the ballasts side to side. If the problem follows the bulb it's the bulb, if the ballast it's the ballast. If neither, you might have a short.

I don't think I have a halogen light. Suppose the only thing I have is the wire coming from the harness and the bulb and the headlight, what am I missing?

^^Your high beam/fog light bulb is an H4 which is a halogen. Some people upgrade to HIDs but you have to install a conversion kit to do it. It's not just a simple matter of changing the bulb.

I said I already have the top Bob, which is the D2R. What I'm trying to figure out is if I only have the wire connected to the bulb in the bold isn't working, what else do I need I think I am missing the ballasts but I don't know what else I need other than the bulb in the wire in the ballasts. Do I need some kind of H ID kit?
