04 or 07 coupe?

Hi, I was interested in purchasing either a 04 or 07 G35 coupe. So, i've been reading up on common problems on them and I was wondering which year is better and more reliable? Both are around 55k miles. I like the brembo package on the 04 but I heard they consume a lot of oil? Also manual transmission.

it's usually a good idea that if condition and mileage are similar, go with the last year in the generation as most bugs will be worked and the updated interior is nice too
all the VQ motors will burn oil, just something you have to monitor

Typically VenomGT9 would be correct but we are working with 2 different submodels. A DE and a HR. the 04 being the second year of the DE's and the 07 Being the first of the HR. I goofed up. Just skip to my last sentence. Either way you will run into your problems and either way you won't be escaping the oil consumption problem overall. I would take each for a good test drive to your closest dealer and have the look over it and do a compression test. Best of Luck!

07 hands down. The interior, tail lights and projector headlights alone make it worth purchasing an 06-07. I have an 06 and the only thing I regret is not going with black interior as the tan interior tends to get dirty real easily. Also you can always purchase the Brembo BBK's later on. And 07 Coupes are still DE, only the 07 Sedans got the HR engines.

Thank you for correcting me. I mixed up some data.

I too have the tan interiors and can confirm they get dirty way to easily. However I wouldn't go any other way, my interior gets hot enough already. And you can't beat the new projectors. However I prefer the older style tail lenses more. But to each their own

The '07 is a far better choice and will cost you less $$ down the road! Like was posted previously, everything about the more current model is far better!
Good Luck and enjoy the ride...Gary

07 hands down. The interior is much nicer with actual aluminium pieces vs that cheap painted plastic in the 03-04. Plus standard bluetooth for that handsfree action. Also better headlights.

'07 pretty much across the board except for the concerns of oil consumption which were still an issue on that 6MT Rev-Up motor.

This is a fukced up thread.
here:

04 - brembos, better spoiler, front bumper can be fitted with an OEM lip, more TQ, cheaper for bolt ons (see mrev2), less chance of oil burning.

07 (revup not HR) - better headlights, sport bumper (it's a better bumper, but VERY limited lip and splitter options), sport sides, better interior.

All parts on all G coupes (except sport mud guards) are interchangeable, so you can mix and match parts as you find them. Get the one with the starting point that suits you best.

What's the price difference between the two?

Yes, the 04 will likely burn some oil, the rev up might burn all of the oil...

My 04 never really burned any oil. But agree with Scraggle here. Well said.
