That's all it take with the G as well. The **** is REALLY tight the first time you remove it. Grab shift boot JUST below the shift **** itself to keep it from twisting and turn the **** counter clockwise (standard righty tighty, lefty loosie). Once loose, it takes about 5 or 6 revolutions to get it threaded all the way out.Originally Posted by supman

Read lowrider's comments.......same thing roadracer said. Key thing here is to clamp down on the shifter below the boot with a vice grip/channel lock plier to guarantee the shifter doesn't unscrew with your ****.
