Clutch acting weird
Clutch acting weird
Hello,
I just replaced a clutch in my g35 1000miles ago,
And I was properly breaking it in all that time, recently the clutch pedal started to feel way too perfect, its like perfectly smooth on engagement no shakes or heavy grabs. I know it sounds weird cause that's what we all wish, but its not the case with 6mt. Pedal still has a free play, also the weather became colder those few days. I'm nervous cause last time the clutch felt so smooth it went in couple days after that. Anyone had experienced that?, maybe it's a weather idk, I will try to change the fluid and clutch line to steel one. Any ideas?

This is new, something works as intended and you're freaking out? Take your G back to the company that installed your clutch and lay this on them, careful you might get locked up!

I recommend changing the clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, and the fluid yes. Easy swap for those items and they usually only last about the life of a single clutch, plus they can cause premature clutch wear when they fail so no sense ruining your brand new clutch.
yeah, my master was replaced right before the old clutch went, i will replace slave - should be a simple DIY right?

Yeah super simple. jack up the vehicle, remove the hose from the CSC first, then take out the two bolts holding it to the tranny. Bolt the new one up, reinstall the hose, bleed, done.
Torque the CSC mounting bolts to 17 ft/lb, the clutch line at 13 ft/lbs, the bleed screw at 70 INCH/lbs

Master is under the hood and has the fluid reservior, slave or "operating cylinder" according to the FSM is located under the vehicle at the bellhousing.
Master controls the slave.
Master controls the slave.
It's a few more steps since the nuts are on the inside of the firewall and you have to disconnect the clevis pin on the clutch pedal which is sort of a pain to access. Google search it, it's not too bad though. FSM has good pictures as well.
