Stolen Key Fob
Stolen Key Fob
I have a 06 Infiniti g35 coupe that has a smart key fob. It was stolen a couple days ago. Can I buy a key fob and have a dealer or locksmith program it? What are my opinions? It's not a regular stick your key in and turn. It had the turn ignition when the key fob is near. Help please!
It's called the Infiniti Intelligent Key, it does require special programming from the dealership but some locksmiths do have the software for it so call around. You can buy an aftermarket intelligent fob, have the physical key cut to spec based on VIN number at a local locksmith and then have the dealership program the fob if needed.
Sit in the driver's seat and close all doors. Lock all of the doors using the power lock switch on the driver's door.
Insert the key in the ignition and remove it from the ignition. Do this at least six times in 10 seconds. The key must be pushed in and removed fully each time. If you have done this step successfully, the hazard lights will flash.
Put the key into the ignition and turn the ignition to the "accessories" setting.
Press any button on the remote within five seconds of putting in the key. If you have done this correctly, the hazard lights will flash again. That remote is now programmed into the system.
Unlock and then lock all doors using the driver's-side lock switch. Press any button on a new remote within five seconds to program that remote in to the system. Repeat this step for every remote, including any existing remotes that were programmed before this procedure.
Turn the ignition to the "Off" position to end the programming mode.
Try that procedure and see if it works with the Intelligent key too.... assuming there is a physical key backup inside the intelligent key like most have.

Programming the fob is the easy part, it's matching the RFID key transponder to the ECU that requires the dealership. Should have mentioned that part.
Dealership will re-match all fobs when they program the ECU for the keys.
