Lowering springs

Anyone have experience with them?

About half a year ago I upgraded from the stock 17' to 19' rimswith 45 profile tyres. It raised the car maybe 1/2 an inch and I didn't want tolower then because where we were living had a crappy driveway and that smallbit of height prevented scrapping. Now we are somewhere else Im consideringlowering, only dropping 1 inch, nothing crazy. It would improve the gap in thewheel arch even though its not bad but would look nicer.

I have had springs before in a Mitsubishi FTO (did those cars getbrought over to USA?). Just wondering if wear on the inside tyre tread commonthing or more car specific as there was that issue but the stiffer ride wasfine. Also are you even likely to get much performance benefits in terms ofcornering or body roll etc? I know theres better options out there like coilovers but springs are a quarter of the price!

I don't necessarily agree that coilovers are a BETTER option but you need to know how to order the correct springs for the ride quality you want with the correct drop. One of the G's strongest points is its cornering potential so yes suspension improvements will reap the full value of the investment but you need springs, sways, sway bar endlinks, bushings, and a camber/toe kit depending on drop. I also strongly suggest replacing the struts if you have many miles on them since you're going to have everything out anyways...

to answer your question on inside tire wear, if you lower it pass a certain point, your going to want to go to an alignment shop and have them check your toe/camber. I purchased my car already lowered, and the guy had put new tires, 8 months later I had a blowout on the back right and back left was down the the wire, tires had ALOT of tread on majority of tire but inside was done for.

lol...

Majority of the times, you will need camber kits in conjunction with most springs. Coil overs or aftermarket struts w/springs is the better route since the life of your factory struts will be reduced, especially with spirited driving.

Thanks guys, appreciate the replies.

Think I will save the money. This pic is soon after the rims were installed so you can see the gap isnt huge but lowering always looks nicer. Trying to be a good boy and save for bigger things!
