I don't know if this is a new fad going around or what. I know the G35 has been the "new" Civic for years now which has been evident on and off this forum. I love off-roading and am all for functionality but I can't understand why people would put a 4x4 setup on a RWD car. The suspensions are mostly aluminum and the VQ has little torque down low.
The G35X would al least make more sense.
An X with an AT, diff swap for gears with clutch lsd, coilovers for extra height. Gotta go widebody with the World's. Biggest. Spoiler... to keep you straight when you're jumping the car obviously.
Also, a roof rack, brush guard (full chassis guard even better), light bar and winch.
Keep the tow hook on cause you're gonna need it.
In all seriousness it could be done clean and look amazing, anything does if you're willing to invest the time, energy, and resources to the project.
However it will be.drowned in the hundreds (or thousands... /shudder...) of failed attempts that looks like hillbilly trash.
i don't think that the cars pictured are converted to AWD. I liken it to the aircooled 911 Safari cars by the Keen Project. Regular rwd 911s that are raised with custom suspension and are amazingly capable off road. Can't lie and say I haven't thought of doing this on a G coupe.
You know what's funny about this... he has videos of him working on the car and building it on his Facebook page and one of them is him stuck in a snow drift in his off-road G35. Lol. Even with a pretty decently even weight distribution and monster tires, this car still sucks in snow.
Thinking of doing some sort of metal front bumper, and a general beef up for the snow.
