G35 Swap and socal emissions??

Hi All,
New guy here. my 05 coupe has started spewing white smoke and now overheating. rather than pull it apart, i'm toying with the possibility of swapping something else in it.

only thing is i'm in Socal and this would be my daily driver so with that being said. I was thinking an ls2 and i know its been done, but i can't find anything about passing emissions in socal.

Can anyone shine some light on this for me?
If it can't be done, any advice on swaps that will or what to do with this thing?

and realize CA (unless you live outside a metro area), has the stiffest smog laws in the country.

Not saying it can't be done legally, but I'd contact a smog referee first and get something in writing before I started down that path.

You might just want to find a used VQ and swap it. Pretty easy to find in Socal.

I guess I was hoping that it would be alot easier to to pass emission these days since the sniffer test is gone now and figured that since you'll be using your own ECU, along with the engines ECU, to kill any cel lights that would appear and be able to use all the car's electronics; it would be able to pass.

In addition to emissions the fact that you are modifying the engine displacement and vehicle weight means you are absolutely screwed if you were to get into a civil lawsuit due to an accident.

Pretty much this.
