Manual transmission revision
Manual transmission revision
Hi there!
I was checking this forum for information and this 'ask a question' popup appeared, so I thought: why not?
The thing is that I own a G35 2003 and live in the Netherlands. Since Infiniti only started selling cars here after 2007, the G35 is quite a rare sight. I really like the uniqueness of it, but the problem of course is parts. The Infiniti garage is not too fond of helping me since they don't know the car and a 'normal' garage is not too eager either.
My problem is the (manual) transmission. The 3rd and 4th gear make an awful sound (unless I switch really really smoothly). It needs a revision, but the transmission specialist here isn't sure which parts to order since the car is not in the database.
So, I basically have 2 questions:
1. Does anyone know which rings, synchromesh and that other thingy fits a G35 coupe from 2003 (3.5 liter V6, manual)? Any chance that it's the same as for the Nissan 350Z from the same year (which was sold over here)?
2. Does anyone know a place where I could order the parts online and have them shipped to Amsterdam?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes it's the same transmission as the 350Z, you should check around for a Japanese importer because they can probably pick up a low mile transmission for a lot cheaper than a rebuild but any tranny shop should be able to order the rebuild kit. Model number for the transmission is stamped on the side of it.

Try amayama.com. They have recently stopped sourcing 03-06 parts, but still have various things still in stock. But you generally need to have part numbers.
Mechanically, it's the same as a 350Z. A better option is to find a trans from an 05-06 car. The early versions had issues. That's basically what people mean when they say to get a CD009 transmission. 03 was something like CD004 and some 04 cars had CD008. 05-06 will be good
