Not necessarily true. Clutch life can be a guessing game. For instance, he already said he drives hard. I'll bet he doesn't rev-match to engine speed when downshifting and I would also imagine that he does some hard starts from standstill. Plenty of that kind of abuse and you will see the clutch fry like an egg.

Then again, if you look at the avg clutch life most modern Ferrari guys are getting from their cars 31k doesn't sound so bad(and most enthusiasts are great drivers of some merit). I have seen people fry clutches on Ferraris with less than 10k on them!

Also, those who think you can't get a clutch replaced under warranty are mistaken. There is something like a 1yr/12,000mile warranty on the clutches(unless they can prove you are at fault for the wear).

Tony,
$200 for the clutch alone? Because there is no way the install is anything shy of $500
But if so you are a lucky man!

Buy the parts from Infiniti and get a reputable source to install it. At $120 an hour for labor at my dealership, there is no way I'm letting them do my clutch. I'm thinking of getting the JWT combo or the UR flywheel and stock clutch. At any rate, I found a place that has a $70 an hour rate and it should no more than 6 hour job. Parts and labor should cost me no more than $1k.

My transmission was being replaced at the same time so they didnt charge me for the labor. My clutch was replaced at 17k miles and then replaced again at 44k. Since then I've replaced mine with a RPS clutch and flywheel. I'll probably hit 100k before I'll have to replace it again.

My clutch just went out at 10k kms! They charged me 2700 to replace it, but I'm meeting with an Infiniti rep next week to make my case about why I should not pay for it. Based on a lot of other posts here, as well as the fact that on my work order it says "all nissan parts are warrantied 12mo/20k km " I'm pretty confident I'll get the $$ back. There's no small print that says *except clutches. They also replaced my flywheel, and from the parts guy I spoke to, this was unnecesary. If they continue to be ****** I will demand they refund me, take out this weak clutch, and I'll put in the JWT gear that can handle the power. I'm also positive the original one was defective since this new one feels completely different. Rant.Done.
