Starting problems

Hi,

I have a 2003 G35 Coupe and I've been having issues with the car starting after driving it for a while. For example, I'll drive it for 20-30 minutes and turn the car off and if I try to start it immediately or shortly after, the car won't start. It acts like it has a bad battery, like it doesn't have enough battery power to turn on. If I wait 30 minutes or more then it'll start just fine. I've tested the battery and it's good. No check engine light or any other issues at this point. Thanks in advance for any help.

How did you test the battery?
How old is the battery?
Did you measure the voltage across the battery when attempting to start the vehicle?
Did you check for corrosion and tightness of your battery cables?
If all the above checks out with a almost sixteen year old vehicle perhaps the starter needs to be cleaned/rebuilt?

Sometimes when the starter is on its way out the heat from driving around will be enough to make it not work until it cools down again. Maybe see if cooling the starter down with compressed air or a fan will expedite the restarting process and pinpoint the cause of your issues?

My starter went bad and it really didn't want to start. Consider replacing it before it gets bad!

What sound do you hear when you try to start? Single click, multiple clicks, nothing at all? Does it ever try to turn the engine over but not have enough to start it?

I had intermittent non-starts with a battery that consistently tested 12.7v but was 8 years old, replaced the battery and all my problems were solved.

It sounds exactly like the problem i had, My issue was a bad camshaft sensor which caused it to do the exact same thing...If it's the same problem get it taken care of before it starts dying on you in the middle of driving. That's a pain in the butt. I heard it's extremely difficult to diagnose a cam shaft sensor because no codes show up until it literally wont start.

That is exactly what happens when the starter solenoid starts to fail, it gets heat soaked and doesn't work until it cools back down.
