Thoughts on buying an 04 in 05

What do you guys think is a good price for an 04 with just a premium package in March 05? I've seen some post stating they got an 04 in 05 for something like 2k UNDER invoice. That kinda seems far fetched given that the dealer would definitely lose money in that deal.

MSRP on an 04 with premium is around $34000 give or take a couple of hundred. Invoice is $31500 I believe.

The dealer would still not lose money. They have "dealer holdback", which is when the factory gives them some of the car price back after it is sold. That way, the invoice pricing is not lying outright, but it really is not even close to what the dealer pays.

Dealer up here is offering 32,500 for a Silver 6mt Premium/Aero. I am trying to get him down to 32k but they won't budge. "We will take our chances in making money on the car by selling it this summer". I was kind of surprised as I would think they would try to unload it ASAP since they have 2005s. Oh well I guess that is the attitude you get from a "luxury brand" (rebadged nissan)

I almost bought a fully loaded 04 MT6 back in december. It was right as the 05 MTs were starting to show up, so i think they wanted to get rid of it. The sticker price was right about 40k, and I got them down to 36600. I didnt take it because I wanted an 05 because of the mp3 compatibility.

But a typical dealer holdback is normally 2-3% of MSRP. That equates to about $900 on $35k. But I guess there's other ways to make profit besides on the dealer holdbacks.

I just can't believe this dealer offered on $500 off MSRP for an 04 with premium. It didn't even have aero package, wheel package, or anything else.
