A couple thoughts. The inner diameter of the stock y-pipe where it connects to the midpipe is 2" and the ISR is 3". Mismatched diameters can cause rasp and with a full inch difference I'd bet the ISR would cause some. More importantly if you're looking for a bump in power (or a change in the exhaust tone) it would be negligible or wouldn't be there at all. If this is the Y you're talking about IMHO it's nowhere worth the $250 plus shipping they're asking for it. It is nice looking though.....

Everything you might want to know about y-pipes can be found in this thread and opinions differ greatly across the forum. https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-...-2003-g35.html

I completely agree with what you are saying, thing is my G is my daily and I am looking to replace the shot, 196k y pipe on the car. I would be fine with a used one but they are getting harder and harder to find in decent shape.A g35x pipe or a HR pipe are diamonds in the rough so thats why I was thinking of getting one like the ISR. It looks to be decent quality if you look at this comparison.

The cost of a new oem y pipe is $423 from Z1, so I'm in limbo as what to do. I don't want to go with a cheap oem replacement only to have it rust out or fit like crap.

In that case I'd just go with the cheapest stainless pipe you can find on ebay. Rockauto has several options for the OEM replacement but I have no idea what they're made of.

Bosal is made of aluminized steel. In this case I'd go with the g35x y pipe which is close in comparison to a HR pipe.

I replaced my Y-pipe about 6-8 months ago, not sure what brand it was but relatively cheap and ordered from Rockauto, only problem i have had since is the same problem all G's have is that the exhaust sits very low and I have scrubbed the dang mesh bend again! and the gaskets at the Y portion of the pipe have a tiny leak... I have new OEM gaskets just been lazy and have not replaced yet. Like Blue Dream said, don't mismatch pipe sizes, keep the same size diameter all the way out. FWIW I know i paid less than $200 shipped on the Y-pipe.
