Yea, pretty sure Z1 has the banjo bolt for a few bucks.
I feel you on color...indecision city, population me.

another thought: If your spare tire is a non-brembo, I don't think it will clear the brembo hardware.

For the akebono upgrade the bracket runs $150 for the fronts. The rear should bolt right up, with shorter banjo bolts. Pretty sure you will also need to cut the dust shields in the rear.

Loving the car man! I love the look of a close to stock g35. People start to do too much sometimes and things start to look out of place. Couple things I would do different: Paint the mirrors the same color as the car, and maybe tint the windows. Oh, and throw on some wheel spacers. I've been wanting to do 25mm/rear and 20mm/front. How's the interior holding up?

So the remanufactured Akebono's are $70 cheaper per caliper and have a cheaper core charge.

Problem is, is that damn adapter kit is $150 just for the fronts. I may just to the Brembo..

I called orellies and I asked if the calipers are "slighty" different if they will be accepted as a core. He said yea so I might be able to get away with it lol

I removed my tint because I saw some nicks in it and thought I could easily replace it and I was horribly wrong. I just haven't taken it to get done yet.

Still deciding on the mirrors. I repainted a lot of the interior silver because it was fading and it looks really good. The only thing is the god damn driving seat.

The leather is trashed. I would love to buy a new seat just haven't found the right price yet. All other seats look flawless.

You don't need the adapter for the rear, just the front. If you can get brembos for around the same price then definitely do it.

I'm in the same boat. Just riding it out till I force myself to have it done. It doesn't look terrible, but it certainly isn't going to get better. Will defintely be having it reupholstered instead of replacing. Buy a used one and you'll be right where you started in no time. I talked to a guy while I was at the shop for something else and he said they would have to do the driver and passenger because the leather will be different shades from a 12 year old car.

Just a thought, some nice aftermarket seats would be both comfortable and a ~80 lb weight savings over the stock seats, depending on what you use the car for. Probably more expensive unless you find a killer deal used.

I just saw a set the other day actually. They do look really nice and sporty but the bolsters seem a little too aggressive for longer distance drives. I think they were braum seats
You would also lose the function to adjust the seat settings, correct?

Most aftermarket seats intended for street use have manual adjustability, which I personally prefer over power options for longevity and weight reasons. I bet if you go to a car meet and ask people if you can sit in their aftermarket seats they would be happy to let you and you'd get a good idea of what you'd want to live with or if aftermarket seats are for you at all.

I have to do this cost break down anyways so here it is. The Akebono would be the clear winner if it wasn't for the cost of the adapter. Wish I could find it cheaper but haven't seen any.

Brembo:

Front: $340 for calipers $85 for rotors and pads = $430
Rear: $350 for calipers $85 for rotors and pads = $435

Total without core refund = $865
Total with core refund = $618

Akebono:

Front: $245 for calipers $73 for rotors and pads = $318
Rear: $302 for calipers $73 for rotors and pads = $375
Front Adapter: $150

Total without core refund = $843
Total with core refund = $642

Cheaper way to upgrade to G37 Akebono Big Brakes

Wish the original poster updated the thread, but this was the first time I heard of the cheap way to upgrade

If you do the Brembo conversion, while you don't need adapter brackets, you'll need 4 caliper bolts for the rear calipers (Nissan part # 080412351A). The bolts for the front calipers can be re-used.

Update: https://www.carid.com/cardone/remanu...gleid=45345184

If I'm able to get a core refund these will only cost me $120. Hell even with the core it's still a better deal.

I'm trying to figure out where those 4 extra caliper bolts go for the rear?

To me the additional $30 to have bigger, newer brakes would be well worth the cost. If you're trying to save every possible cent why bother upgrading at all?
See the attached for what that 30 bucks gets ya...

No reason to sink any more than I need/want to in a 15-year-old car. If I can have bigger brakes for cheaper I rather do that. Plus after finding that carID site its a much better deal.

Now I just have to decide on a color for paint

If you do get the full core charge back, it's obviously a mistake. The person who gives the return is clueless as to what they are doing. There's a reason the core charge is double for akebonos. Tripple for brembos. They would be handing out free money if they did this
