aftermarket valve cover replacement

I need to replace my valve covers because they are leaking. The dealer wants over $1,000 to do this simple job.

RockAuto.com sells aftermarket valve covers for under $100 shipped! Can anyone recommend the best brand and/or part numbers for these. Personal recommendations requested. Thanks!

You'll be fine with those cheap Apex ones, it's a non-critical part. Just be sure to apply Permatex Ultra Grey to a CLEAN gasket mating surface, that's literally the most important part of a valve cover job, for a little added insurance I would also apply a very thin layer to the spark plug well gaskets. Read the bottle, follow the cure time, you cannot just bolt it down and drive away...

What he said -^^... after have doing many of many valve cover jobs on all kinds of vehicles, use the permatex and follow the instructions on cure time is the best way to resolve it and it will last a good while. surface area prep is key to success..
