Valve Cover replacement - oil leaks

I was finally able to replace my spark plugs this weekend, and found oil on cylinder 2,3,5........... cylinder 3 had a lot of oil.

What parts to I need to replace my valve cover...

left and right valve cover, gaskets, anything else?

BTW, car has 150,000 miles now.............
At last spark plug replacement at 60,000 no oil was found.

Thanks for any info/advise.

valve covers

The covers and the gaskets.

Talk to Tony at Riverside Infiniti in socal I had him ship some to me. He was way less than my two local Infiniti dealerships.

U can also try and find a used pair of covers from someone, use to see them on the forum for about $75. Then just buy cover gaskets from your local dealer or Tony at Riverside.....

Hope this info helps.....

Floyd

Just the valve covers and the gaskets is all you will need...and a little RTV to make a proper seal according to the FSM. (I used the Red RTV)

I may do a DIY tutorial

When I actually get the parts, I will do the work myself.

Anyone interested in a DIY?
I may do one, if enough people are interested.

Just had a look at it; thanks for posting it up!. So would you say it was an easy job? How long did it take you?

Also, there wasn't anything on the gaskets that have to be replaced... is it hard to line them up? Any difficulties putting everything back?

And another question. Why did you replace the coils?

I just did my plugs tonight and saw a little bit of oil pooling on plug 6.
The rest of the plugs were dry.
What do you think this will cost me since my car is 2k mi out of warranty?
I am so pissed I did not do this earlier.
On a lighter note, the car is really quick right now.
I put in NGK platinum laser plugs.
NICE.
Anyone who can offer input as to what I can expect to get this taken care of.
thanks!

you will need valve covers cuz the spark plug tube seals arent available separate....and new vc gaskets. just make sure you double check that the gaskets havent rolled out of place towards the back when you put the vc's back on. and you only need some sealant on the front 2 corners where the rod cap meets the head surface. good luck with it tho.
