*EDIT* found the owner. 404 motorsports

Im trying to track down the previous owner of a 2004 black g35 cpe 6mt. The car is actually my brother-in-law's car. He purchased the car 2 days ago from Gwinnett Infiniti in Atlanta. The cars odom reads 3,6xx miles. The reason for trying to track down the car's previous owner: The mods include: debadged rear (nothing major but it looks clean), borla exhaust, nismo shorth throw shift kit (i think), clear front bumper markers, mp3 player (i believe to be alpine), and cd player also alpine, eibach lowering springs, some kinda rear anti-sway bar, front lip, 2 jl audio 8" subs with jl audio amp. The car is nice as hell and clean *but* it makes a god-awful noise (almost rattling/grinding) when the car is started, in neutral, and idling. The noise disappears when the clutch is depressed or when the car is rev'ed. Im assuming its the "infamous throw out bearing" since some others have had similiar problems. We would like to find the previous owner to find out what has been done to the car so we dont get any surprises.

by the way, I know this is a needle in the haystack, shot in the dark kinda thing but based on the mods, I thought id try here. The dealership said they cant disclose any info on the previous owner other than it was a black guy in his late 30's early 40's that traded the car in for a new m45.

Thanks for all you help.
*UPDATE*
We found the previous owner. It happens that the previous owner is the guy that owns 404 motorsports in Atlanta www.404motorsports.com

Not to sure who's car that is, but get you and your brother-in-law to come out to our next meeting. It should be lots of fun and maybe someone will recognize the car.

My guestimation would be that your problem is the flywheel. I had almost the exact same thing in my old Maxima. Horrible, embarassing sound.

Perhaps there's an aftermarket flywheel? (more likely) Or maybe some of the other mods messed up the stock flywheel (hard to belive with so few miles)....I dunno.

Prob not the throwout bearing....a throwout bearing issue would be heard when you press the cluch in (as opposed to making the sound go away).

His name and address is on the title I peeked at it when I bought my car (too bad my bank has it now, lol).

Good luck with your repairs, and your search!

I hope they don't try to void your warranty with all the mods....especially since they sold it to you like that

Thats what we are worried about....the dealership sold the car with its full manufacturers warranty (or so they said) but im wondering if they knew the condition the car was in on the lot. Thanks for the help and where is the meet going to be held in atlanta....Well be there if we know when and where. I looked on the frenzy site and it said something about z1....is that a shop?
