California Smog Test

I am currently running into an issue with getting my car smogged because the previous owner had ART pipes on the car and although I love the sound, I would like to go more legal.
I live in California so I was wondering what advise you may have. currently I am debating on buying high flow cats preferably Fast Intentions resonated high flow cats, but they are 49 state legal so I might buy some stock catalytic converters to pass smog.
Any thoughts or further questions from CA residents?

The FI high flow cats is a good choice. That's the route I would go if I were in your position. There are other hi flow cat manufacturers such as Berk, but it seems brands other than FI have issues with throwing a CEL or poor sound. The challenge for you will be finding a set of FI for sale as they are increasingly harder to find.

Better questions might be if high flow cats pass the visual inspection. Did the previous owner provide you a smog certificate when you purchased the car? Best bets on passing smog are to get everything visually back to stock as possible unless you have the CARB stickers.

We don't always share our secrets!

You must find a Smog Station that doesn't do the visual check! (ask around) I had my Vette at a shop near me in SCV, that sombitch checked everything but her heart beat! Normally if you're not throwing error codes some shops look no further. I can't tell you where I get SLICK smog checked it would jeopardize their business...sorry!

All the visuals are pretty much done looking through the engine bay. They will not get under the car with a mirror or anything. IMO you have nothing to worry about.

Nothing to worry about until you roll into a smog station and you're obligated to pay their fee if you fail! Yes, some stations still check under your vehicle especially if it doesn't sound stock! Talk to your friends, ask them where they go to get smog checked! I have a friend that pays $500 every other year to get his truck checked because of his 800 rwhp blown motor that he only drives to/from shows!

This is great advice, it's pretty much how the entire world works.

800 hp blown motor is red flag. But since the is a G35 forum, I presume we're talking smogging G35's. My bolt on modded G is a 2005. So I've had 5 smog tests so far at both star and non-star locations. Not once, has anyone looked under the car. Am i just lucky 5 times in a row? I think not.
