Safety Neutral/Parking Switch Problem

Hi guys, I m new here, if I open thread at wrong forum I do apologize:
I got problem with my g35, it 's a coupe '05 automatic. Car was stucked in a P position and couldn't move shifter anywhere. Also lights ABS, VDC OFF, SLIP ON comes up on dashboard. So i moved somehow shifter with screwdriver and go to mechanic. He said that problem is that switch what dealerships doesn't sell separately for g35s with automatic trans, only for manuals. They only sell shifter assembley what include that switch and price is crazy like 600$ and labor at least 300$. Does any of you has that problem?

Thanks!!!

PNP switch is inside the transmission and not the part you're looking for. What prevents you from moving the gear selector is the safety interlock cable that runs between the ignition cylinder and the shifter assembly.

The cable is cheap, search for "G35 shift interlock cable".

Also read this article, it explains how the system works.

I had read that too. Then why mechanic said it s a whole thing... He maybe read wrong code. Should I allow him to change it or just tell him to try with cable.
