Anyone try "Q" motor oil
Anyone try "Q" motor oil
I have 4000 miles on the G and have done one oil change with mobil 1. Anyone use this Q stuff from QUaker State? They claim that it reduces friction at higher temperatures.
4k is a little early to switch over to a synthetic oil. I would wait until about 8-10k before switching to a full synthetic like Mobil 1. As far as Q is concerned I have never used it so i have no comment.

1) Search the forums to get a lot of back and forth opinions and decide for yourself.
2) People say that switching before 10k miles can prevent proper break-in and sealing of engine components.

I've used Quaker State in all my cars for the last 5 years, and love the stuff. - Dad's used it in his cars ever since I can remember! I'll probably end up using the 'Q' but I only have about 5K on my car and the oil has been changed three times [Factory oil > full synthetic > full synthetic]. I switched over at about 3K to Quaker State.
P. Diddy is right, just search and you will find alot of info on the topic...in the end its just up to you [on pretty much any topic!] - everyone has different veiws from break in, to oil, to spoilers, to lighting...just do what you want!
GonSpeed, I'd wait till break in is over to change the oil. The oil that is in the car from the factory is a different kind that helps break the engine in properly and is 'coarser' i guess you could say and helps smooth everything out inside the engine...its only 1200 miles! It will go by very fast [I promise] and then you can switch over to whatever you want!!

Bad move, Internal combustion engines need to wear in. They are expected to wear in to seat the rings and other componets to each other. Synthetic will not allow the parts to wear properly because of its increased lubricating properties. Do what you want but I would not take a chance of causing a poor ring seal on a new motor. Call any high performance engine builder and they will tell you the same thing Dino oil first 1k min.
