Dash cracks "fix"

I have been trying to figure out how to fix the cracks in my dash but I was hesitant to use one of those repair kits where you glue it then paint it because the results never look great. Luckily, the cracks in my dash are fairly small but they are still an eye sore. I ended up using some black silicone to fill in the cracks and the results are pretty good. This isn't really a fix, but a pretty decent cover up. Your results will vary depending on the damage on your dash. I just rubbed some of the silicone into the cracks with my finger and wiped off the excess with a wet paper towel.

Unfortunately I don't have great pictures of the Before because I tried other products that did not work well at all. So these Before pictures are actually after a bit of masking, the damage was a bit more excessive at the start.

Nice. I wish I had used that on my dash. I tried using some aircraft grade silicone and it fuct it all up.

Think this will work on larger cracks? I have some larger splits on the door, same material I believe. That looks great

I would give it a go, you might be able to still see them if they are really big but at least they might not be as prominent. Post pictures if you can.

I feel like the bigger the crack, the more visible the difference in color and sheen of the sealant will be, compared to the dash.

So small hairline cracks won’t be noticeable, but a bigger one will. It’ll probably still look better than just leaving it the way it is though.

This is good information. I 've been trying to find something for my 2006 G35 dash. I have the same cracks in the same places as you do. Think I will try this product.
Now, if I can get my driver's side door to stay open when I want it to, I will be happy.

Replace the hinge, it will help. But the coupe doors are so heavy if you're on the slightest incline it won't stay open

OP the dash looks 1000 times better, nicely done. Is it perfect, no but who cares. It was an inexpensive fix that didn't take a lot of time to do so that's a win, win in my book.

Anyone else taken a crack at this? Looks really good. Mine runs along the whole dash and although its not split very wide its just enough to see the colour underneath so hiding it would be nice.
