so im doing an engine swap and when i took it apart from the transmission there was a bunch of this black fuzz.. is that like burnt clutch plate? or wtf is it?

 

That's normal. It's like brake dust. The clutch disc is basically the same thing.

 

Little late on this reply but clutch dust and brake dust are very high in asbestos content so you want to flush it out with liberal use of brake cleaner to keep it wet. You don't want to make it airborne where it could be breathed in because it will permanently damage your lungs. Never use compressed air to blow it off EVER.
