Hello, and question for 6 footers and above

I'm new to this site (hello!) but not new to forums, IE I phuggin searched!
I dug up the dreaded seat control thread where everyone is crying (some painfully hurting) from the driver controls and the bracket digging into their skin. I concluded that this is a hit or miss thing between drivers.

My question is, how are you 6' folks and taller dealing with this car. I've only driven it once and the salesman was a real dick, so I didn't get to enjoy the test drive like I wanted to. I should have spent more time setting up the seat, etc. So 6' and above, how are your commutes, and longer drives? Any issues?

TIAFAR!

And yes, I know the Bose system sucks I'm gonna be looking for a 6MT with sunroof and no premium package!

I'm 6'2" and I drive the car a minimum of 50 miles a day and a maximum of 200 miles a day (or roughly 6-8 hours in the car every day...outside sales). I've put about 2200 miles on the car so far and have yet to experience any real pain from driving. But after driving an S2000 for those same periods of time everyday, the G feels like riding on a cloud.

Good luck in your search for a 6mt without the prem. package. I don't know where you are from, but here in socal it is impossible to find a dealership that will bring in one without it.

6' 4" and no problems here although I don't have a sunroof which gets me a little extra headroom. From what I have seen the seat discomfort can't be traced to a certain height/weight. It either fits you or it doesn't. I have done a few 14+ hour days driving with relative ease.

6'6" here and probably the tallest that can drive a G coupe with a sunroof. I find that the seats are fantastic and very comfortable, more comfortable for long drives than my 330i actually. I know what people are complaining about on the seat adjustments, not a probem with me. I believe that is a problem for "horizontally challenged" drivers, I am pretty thin (6'6", 36" waist, 205lbs) and do not see how people a lot wider than me fit?

I just picked up my 05 6MT and I'm 6'2", 210. I owned and SUV before and I fit fine. Every blue moon when I enter the car I might hit the roof a little but when I'm settled in I'm good.

I'm 6'0" and have no problem. Alternatively, my co-worker who's pretty much the same height as I, cannot sit in this car no matter how he positions the seat - he has a long torso.

I know there was a thread going around about lowering the seat more than what the controls will let you. It had something to do with adjusting some screws under the seat - a free fix that according to the poster, should give you an extra inch or so.

There is a thread floating around on fixing the height of the drivers seat to give an additional inch or so of clearance for you tall people.

Just dont try to sit in the back

Those seats are ridiculous. I think you have to be 5'6 or shorter to have your head not hit the window

I'm surprised that people that are over 6'5" don't have there heads sticking out of the sunroof...good stuff though that you can enjoy the ride with comfort

I'm 6'-3" and weigh about 234. I've had no problems with long rides in the seats. I do understand what people are talking about with the controls. I drove for 8 hours straight and I could feel a slight pressure where the controls are located. But it does not interfere with the enjoyment of driving the G. A few months back, I weighed as much as 275 and still did not have any problems.

Good Luck,

Ray
