NDS APP Questions

We have a number of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the family. Also have a few Ford trucks. On the trucks I use a free app called ForScan with a 327ELM adapter for OBD2 connection which connects via USB on my laptop. I have noticed a comment here and there about a NDS Application. I see information about Nissan Consult 3 III and of course its on one of these sites that wants you to pay for a fast download speed so I always question the integrity of the file that I might get from them.

Anyone have better information?

NDSII or NDSIII from the play store, there is a lite version to try out first if you like.

Theres still a lot of functionality that isn't covered on that app but you can do those things through Torque Pro usually.

Consult is the dealership software, datascan is 3rd party software that can do many ECM / BCM things not available through regular OBD2 software.

The PC version has saved me hundreds. I can't recommend it enough. Surprised its not talked about more on here. Use it once and it pays for itself

Program your own keys, match ECM to BCM VIN, adjust base timing and base A/F, turn various systems on/off for testing, self-diagnose for ECM/TCM/BCM/ABS/SRS.

Basically all those random little things that you can't see or do through an OBD2 scanner. However it does lack the scope logging that Consult-II/III have so you can't do things like verify the signal of cam/crank sensors and stuff like that.

The few things I've used it for are data logging, resetting steering angle sensor, changing the tire size so the speed reads correct, pulling SRS codes, checking TCM parameters. The dealer wanted an hour of labor just to reset the steering angle sensor after replacing clock spring. Takes 30 seconds and the program was like half the price. Pretty sure the mobile app only reads ECM. The app can only read MAYBE 1/4 of the parameters the PC version has. I still use both though

It all depends on how much diy you do. If you just need to check codes or log a little data, the mobile app gets the job done
