Sport Package vs Performance Package upgrade

This being my first post on this forum I am not sure if this topic has already been covered. I have just ordered a G 35 Coupe. Thanks to this web site, I discovered that the VLSRD I was told was included in the Performance upgrade was in fact, not. The dealer was very accomidating admitting their error and offered the Sport package upgrade at a very aggressive price. I am currently driving a 540i with the M-Sport package. This is a stiffer suspension than the standard 540i, and I don't mind the ride at all. I went ahead with the order, but I have a concern now that the Sport Suspension 19" wheel combination might render a very rough ride. I'm just hoping that very responsive won't wear off over time and change to pain in the ***.

Thanks for any input.....

Sport pkg

I have the sport pkg with the 19's and love it.The car drives like it is inches off the ground with out it actually being. It does take bumps and pot holes a little ruff, but I guess that's the trade off and I am happy with it. I have had the car for almost 2 months and it hasn't become bothersome.

ride is noticeably stiffer but not as harsh as you might expect. Maybe you should see if they have a test drive car in stock so you can try it out... I don't think it would bother you but try it out to make sure

Cliffnote: Test drive!

I recently test drove one with the 19's and coming from a BMW, I have to say that the suspension felt on par with the German make.
The ride was not harsh per say but it had a nice taughtness and feel to it like a solidly built car.
There are tradeoff's to any sport type suspensions though and I will say that road noise is a little more pronounced than I would like but overall it was nice.

I had a 2000 540i with the sports package and I now have the 05 G35 coupe with the sports package and the 19's. The ride is great and you'll easily adapt having already driven a car with a sports tuned suspension.

When I got my car, I thought the ride was really rough but after 2k miles it is not so bad and I'm kind of used to it. On really nice roads you cannot tell if you have the sports suspension. I say get the sports package with the wicked wheels.

its kinda stiff, but not stiff enough to make you throw up. i'm not sure about passengers though. if you like to feel the road (which i personally do) you'll like it. ask the dealer if you can test drive one with it.

Not worried about passengers, doubt the rear seat will get used much at all. I did drive the car before ordering but the problem with the Great White North is the dealer had to pretty much dig the car out of the snow. They were reluctant to let me test drive the car as the Z rated tires don't do so well in freezing or just below freezing temperatures. It was a bit of an eye opener when I nailed the gas peddle (the roads were dry) without traction control on....The sales person told me she turned it off to get the car out of the snow bank...Would have been nice to know that....I enjoy a car that lets you feel the road, the G 35 is after all, a "sports coupe". Based on what I've read so far I will not be disapointed. thanks,
