USB Port Install

So, I have a new a Pioneer MVH-1400NEX for my 2006 coupe. I was wondering is anyone had done self modification to put in a USB port. I just want to see locations and pictures for ideas where to place it.

Also, any links to the best place for the parts. I have a few sites I’ve been looking at, but open to anything else as it’s better to have multiple options.

thanks

ps: If this something like this has been posted, sorry for reposting... I’m feeling lazy and didn’t really search

No pictures, its dark but I have two, one for carplay even though I have wireless car play and one for a USB stick right where he does. I used a drill bit to put rough cuts and then used a file to square it out and perfect it. Used some automotive glue to secure them in place. Came out very stock looking at the end of the day. Take your time with it...

I cut a hole in the center console too. Great spot for a USB.

I put a similar port in the back of the dash cubby and mounted magnetic pad that can flip down from the lid and hold my phone during trips without losing the cubby space all together.

Can you send me a link to where you bought the adapter? Though I only have 1 USB input on my radio, so I think the 1 USB/1AUX would be the way I go.

Thx for replying 😁

That sounds intriguing. Can you post pictures? I’d like to see.

I have an iPhone XR & I’ve seen the magnetic pad’s that’ll charger your phone at the same time

Is it easier to just cut out a hole in the center console? Compared to trying to pull out the power outlet that's in there and replace that with the USB - if that's even possible without complications.

U will still need to remove the entire center console for either one. Anything is possible and the choice is yours. But I would prefer to keep the power port as u can use it for other things like charging your phone n such.

Besides the hole I made in the center console, I had to trim away some of the underlying plastic that was getting in the way of the aftermarket USB port. I dont remember whats inside or under that little power port box though.

If you don’t mind, what specific part did you use for the USB carplay? And what year and model is your car.
