USB Port Install
USB Port Install
So, I have a new a Pioneer MVH-1400NEX for my 2006 coupe. I was wondering is anyone had done self modification to put in a USB port. I just want to see locations and pictures for ideas where to place it.
Also, any links to the best place for the parts. I have a few sites I’ve been looking at, but open to anything else as it’s better to have multiple options.
thanks
ps: If this something like this has been posted, sorry for reposting... I’m feeling lazy and didn’t really search

No pictures, its dark but I have two, one for carplay even though I have wireless car play and one for a USB stick right where he does. I used a drill bit to put rough cuts and then used a file to square it out and perfect it. Used some automotive glue to secure them in place. Came out very stock looking at the end of the day. Take your time with it...

I put a similar port in the back of the dash cubby and mounted magnetic pad that can flip down from the lid and hold my phone during trips without losing the cubby space all together.

Is it easier to just cut out a hole in the center console? Compared to trying to pull out the power outlet that's in there and replace that with the USB - if that's even possible without complications.
Besides the hole I made in the center console, I had to trim away some of the underlying plastic that was getting in the way of the aftermarket USB port. I dont remember whats inside or under that little power port box though.
Forgot to reply back to this. I did the same thing you did in the picture. Only difference is that my USB is on top and AUX is on the bottom. Was a fairly easy install.
