I got this code p1757 for my 2004 Infiniti g35 coupe & I was doing some research and I found that it was the front brake solenoid circuit... if anyone has had this issue please let me know what you did to resolve this... I took it to the shop and I was told that I would need to buy a whole new transmission... So please let me know before I just get tired and buy a whole new tranny.. thank you hope you all are having a wonderful day.

 

If you feel comfortable replacing the solenoid you can just do it yourself, or buy a new valve body. You shouldn't need an entirely new transmission though but the shop may have suggested it if you have high miles. It's going to be billed as 10 hours of labor probably so paying $400 for a new valve body vs $1400 for a new transmission might make sense when you're talking an additional $1200 in labor for the repair.

Rather than $1200 labor with $400 valve body this year and another $1200 labor and $1000 gearbox next year.

 

One question: How many miles are on your G35?

It can also be that the TCU has failed and or the traces to the solenoid. If doing it yourself I would just swap in another known good TCM assembly that has the solenoids on it to make sure you take care of both common problems. If on a tight budget you can get one out of the U pull yards pretty cheap and look for one that was wrecked hard so you know the vehicle was a good running car until death.

If taking it to a shop you are probably going to get bent over. Seems like any place that deals with automatics charge the big bucks. If you can't find a good TCM / valvebody anywhere I may have one going up in the classifieds here from my 04' in a month or so.
