Passenger Side Cooling Fan not working
Passenger Side Cooling Fan not working
Hi All,
My passenger side cooling fan is not working. What can I do as a process of elimination to determine what's actually wrong with it or is there anything I can do besides purchase a new one?
Thanks,
Frank

I don't see anything in the service manual that says only one fan runs at a time. That tells me if the fans are running, both should be going. Is the ECM throwing any codes? The fan controls are dependent on vehicle speed, amb temp, A/C conditions, etc. There's a way to plug a jumper to bypass controls to your fan, and make sure the motor is still good, but I only did this on older cars. I would start from the electrical connections and check the relays as well.
Hi DVatz, I haven't been driving the car much lately so this morning I let it run for about 30 minutes with the AC on. After 30 miutes I went outside and noticed the temp gauge was high and immediately turned the car off. I then waited about an hour then started the car up temp gauge was normal I then turned on the AC popped the hood and only the drivers side fan was working. I have a 2006 Coupe 6mt. I will start from the electrical connections/relays as you mentioned.
The harnesses are the same, should be enough room to plug in the driver harness to the passenger side fan. Might have to pull the wires out of the loom a little, or remove the fan assembly and lay it on the ground under the vehicle to plug it in. Make it work.
Check the fan relays located behind the battery on the passenger side. Swap them and see if the passenger side fan is working. If it is, then it's a bad relay. If not chances are the fan motor is shot.
