Question Help! Car dies while driving?

Hi,

First time posting to a forum but thought id give it a try. I LOVE cars but do not know much about the workings and mechanical. I have a 2006 G35 that I bought off of a friend lots of miles but good price I thought...

The car was fine for a while just had to do some minor repairs. Tires and driver side window motor was shot. I also replaced the battery but now I have this issue with the power or computer. I'm not to sure how to put it. I don't drive the car very far just to work about 10km there and back. I've been a bit of a home body this year trying to save money so not much driving around. I noticed that the battery would drain and the car would have a hard time starting most days (especially when cold). A chugging sound like it was struggling for air and then it would start but never was a nice turn and start so I decided to put one of those green **** battery disconnect things on so when I got home from work I would disconnect the battery so the car wouldn't be dead when I went to work the next day. That worked for having the battery not die on me but still wouldn't start very nice. I have been told by my mechanic saying that there is some kind of energy leak coming from the deck that was put in by previous owner that I don't talk to anymore so i'm not sure if it was put in half assed or not. There are wires that I see wired for subs but i'm not sure where they go and they seem to be all disconnected but basically when I was driving the power just went completely out while at a red light and I managed to put it into park and get it started again but then there was another time about a day or two after and it died on me while after I filled up the tank. I called bcaa because I couldn't get it to start but out of frustration I kept turning the key while pumping the gas pedal and it started then I started driving it out of the gas station at low speeds just to try to get it into a parking lot fearing it would die on me again and it lost power again and I was stuck in the middle of the road frantically calling anyone I could for help but no one I knew was nearby for a jump. Finally two gents help push my car into a parking lot and then another jumped my car and it started and what i've done in the past was let the car sit charging the battery on. I ran in for an appointment which lasted about 15-20 minutes and when I got back to my car it shut off that was the first time that has ever happened while letting the battery charge. So I called a tow truck and he tried jumping it and it wouldn't start so we took it to my mechanic and they got it started and I picked it up the next day and drove it to work and while driving slow in the parking lot at work it died again. So now I am not sure what to do. I have let the car sit for 3 months. I would love some insight on this issue and if anyone has had this problem please let me know I just don't know where to start

Sorry for the rant not sure if that much detail was needed but thought id share my experience i am in love with this car and don't want to give up on it.

TLDR: 2006 G35 battery dies while driving. Continues to die making it unsafe to drive. Can't get it to start some days and now trying to get some insight on what to do.

The terminals are looking pretty tired, I just replaced the battery today and I'm going to replace the terminals tomorrow hopefully.

Now since getting it started my steering feels horrible so stiff but checked the fluid and it seems fine

I had a 2006 G35 6 speed manual purchased new in Dec 2005 and put 171796 miles on it until I traded it in for a 2012 G37 6 speed manual.
You may not like my advice but here is what I think you should do with a almost 15 year old vehicle that you love and obtained at a good price whatever that was?
Call your local Infiniti dealer and ask to speak to the service manager. Repeat you list of problems to him/her and ask if their top technician could possibly have a look at your vehicle and the approximate cost.
You may have to remove any non OEM parts or accessories so they can do proper troubleshooting with their consult diagnostic tool.
Call AAA and have it put on a flatbed to the Infiniti dealer.
Prior to moving up to my first Infiniti I drove Volkswagen's for over 30 years.as well as Mazda's.
I now like have the tire pressure in all four tires display on the dash of my Q70 along with the front and rear cameras
My wife's 2019 E450 Benz has red warning lights on the side mirrors that sound a warning and flash red when a vehicle is in your blind spot.
I want that on my next vehicle along with the self driving and summon that is now available on the Model S Tesla that I test drove.
Perhaps you might want to consider driving a cheaper vehicle until you can afford something with all the latest bells and whistles?

Good luck

If the battery dies while driving, the alternator is not charging it. This may indicate that the alternator is shot or the battery has a shorted cell and cannot be charged. You also mentioned it is hard to steer, which makes me think that the belts may be loose. There may be other issues such as broken or shorted wires, bad connectors or bad ground wires and /or connections. You will need a service manual to trace the wires. See the link below. Check all the wires you said the previous owner left hanging loose to make sure they are not shorting out either between them or to ground. Good luck.

if u haven"t replaced your 2 cam and 1 crank sensors yet, i would think thats your problems. the crank sensor does what you are experiencing cuz thats what was happening to mines, drive some where and engine die wait awile and starts up and dies after driving. i would replace all the sensors to have peace of mind. oriellys auto parts sells all 3, and u can google on youtube on how to replace the sensors or have someone put them in

Use your multimeter across the battery with the engine running
If the alternator is good you should see
